Seems there are very few offers to be found on the net right now.

So far eBay (US, UK and German - I live in Denmark), Digimart and Yahoo Japan are on my check list.

Any others I should know about?

Craig's list is another possibility.

Be aware that it costs roughly $100 to ship a guitar from Europe, even disassembled.

I would haunt ebay- thre are often crazy good Buy It Now prices when someone needs quick cash. Best deal I've ever had was $45 for an X189.

These guitars are pretty common, keep looking.

I wish I could help, but the only Electra LPs I have are bolt neck, and probably nothing I'd part with at the moment. Actually I often buy ones that are damaged worse than people care to bother with, partly because I can repair broken necks (well, anyone can, but I do it) and also because I can study their details even if they're not playable.

Here's two now:

You were talking about Omegas, that's one. Realize that with the maple neck, an Omega isn't exactly like an LP, though the body is similar of course.

The next one has a slightly modified body, I call it a 1 1/2 cutaway, kind of an evolved LP. Not sure if this is of interest, but here it is:

One of the problems with these auctions is they (like many US sellers) will only ship to the US. I'd be happy to help you out there, but shipping it to me and then shipping it to you will likely add nearly another $100 to the cost. But it's an idea.

I didn't answer your question fully in the first place- Electra was a brand that (as far as we know) was only sold in the US- however in the mid 80's when the name was changed to Westone, the same models were sold in Europe too- so you find Westone Spectrums that are the same models as Electra Phoenix.

Actually that availability might be another reason to go with Aria Pro, I'm guessing they were sold in Europe all along, thought I'm not sure (not really an expert on those at all)

I really appreciate your help - it's good to be around friendly people.

The second eBay listing is already on my watchlist. The first looks interesting as well.

But - over the weekend I've bought an Aria Pro II LP copy from Yahoo Japan, and a Burny ditto from Canada. I'm getting screwed on shipping (not to mention VAT and customs), but it actually works out to slightly less than what I see similar models go for here.

Since I'll even have to borrow money for these (or rather, pay for rent and food afterwards), my ventures into Electra territory will have to wait.

I'd like to stress that I'm not some kind of spoiled rotten or out of control collector kind of person - these two will be my first electrics in a decade (I've played all acoustic for several years). I was simply interested in good value for money, and instruments with a certain soul, mojo, wienenntmandas. Right now I'm practising on a $200 guitar of Chinese manufacture that some nice person gave to me. It does feel a bit awkward, as my technical chops are fairly advanced.

I may want to take you up on your very nice offer at some later point. Thanks again for your knowledge and helpfulness.

This led to a further discussion of large guitar collections, which I split off into the general dicussion area :)
