Ingerested in an Electra Wedge. Doesn't need to be perfect or even all there--I want a beater with a decent & straight neck that I can hot rod a little to my own liking. Anyone know of a husk sitting around somewhere? rod@horsetech.com

The Electra Flying Wedge is kind of rare, and we don't see them too often. Frankly, except for the truss rod cover (with the logo on it), they are identical to that era's Ibanez (and other knock-off) bolt-neck V's. I'm not certain where they were made, but I'm pretty sure they were not made by Matsumoku.

Vantage made a Vee, which more than likely WAS made at the Matsumoku plant, that is pretty common on eBay. The two differences are the headstock shape and the use of MMK pickups, and I personally think those are better pickups than what was loaded into the Flying Wedges, oh and they also used better Sealed tuners than the Wedges came with. These Vantage V's can usually be had for around $300, and most people would agree that they are a step up in materials and playability from the Wedge. I know that may be considered blasphemy to state that on this site, but we welcome other opinions, right?

As comparison, a ratty, modified, repainted and otherwise beatup Wedge recently sold for $400 on eBay, so, they are out there, but the days of the $100 fixer-upper have long past. Good luck, Mike.

P.S. there is an area specifically for Wanted items.

Thank you for the info on the Vantage--I'll have a look. If I am correct the Wedge beater you reference on dBay sold a week ago and I was the second to last bidder. It was beat and DIRTY. I missed it earlier as it was listed at $250 and failed to draw a bid. Kind of want an Electra--what I wanted back in high school. For as much as I will want to change on it, I'd probably be best off to look for an Electra wedge truss rod cover and build from there... (anyone have one of those laying around?)!! I appreciate you input--my first time to the forum. Thanks! Rod

I can confirm MMK45's in the Vantage V I have and as stated I'm nearly positive its a Matsumoku product. It's a strong player and a very good no frills no nonsense guitar and parts in general are easier to find. I needed a single Vantage tuner and found one the same day on ebay. Hard to do that with Electra tuners.....
