You all don't want to hear my sob story, but I need to raise some capital, so I'm offering up two Guitars and a Bass for your consideration. I'd rather sell them here than on eBay and save you (and me) some listing fee's, so I'm posting them here. First up is a axe that is pretty unique, I was hoping that it was a production mock up or prototype, but it looks more like a 1986 Spectrum LX with an Flamed aftermarket Neck installed. Has a very complete paint strip and natural refin thing going on, body shows plenty of wear from use and probably the reason it was refinished. The neck is pretty striking, a couple of shots:

The neck has a bigger profile than a standard Phoenix or Spectrum, but is no honking baseball bat either. If you love the H/S/H setup and have yearned for a bigger neck feel, this is your axe. All the Electronics work as they should now (I had to correct a wiring mistake on the phase push/pull), this set of MMK's has a great balance and they sound VERY Nice. Guitar has great intonation and really rings when you strike a chord, I wish the neck was smaller, I'd keep this one which weighs a pleasant 7.4 lbs. No trem bar and no case. Ships in a gig bag to the lower 48 for $260. Will take neck off for least expensive shipping or can meet in SE Michigan for local collectors.

Next up a Guitar it took three years for me to find, but I needed to complete that Active collection sooo bad!

These X160's with the active circuit and Metallic Brown paint were only made for 8 or 9 months and are rare to be sure. The Met Brown finish is very rare, I think only one other guitar offered it. They would be the last Phoenix model put out before the names would change to Westone and Spectrum. The knobs should be black, non-original Gold knobs are epoxied on, and I did not want to damage the shaft or pot trying to get them off. The wiring has been messed with, but the active circuit works as it should. Currently set up for a single master volume, no tone control in passive, Active volume and center detent tone with Bass or Treble boost when active engaged. No phase switch, but each pickup has its own Coil cut switch, which I like a lot. I like to set the Neck pickup as a single coil, then get that big boost when I go the Bridge Pickup as a Humbucker. Finish shows some scratches and play wear, one inconspicuous chip on the upper horn, but overall very presentable. Shipped and insured with a gig bag, neck off for $290, taking a loss on this one.

Lastly I have two X640s's and am selling the nicer and more original of the two (the one on the right):

Here's a whole thread on them:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6576

The Active X640s Bass isn't too common and has all the bells and whistles. You can run the fat P pickups in series or parallel and also reverse the phase. This is the first version with the pick guard, later versions would have the rear mounted controls and J pickup next to the bridge. When side by side the paint really pops on this one, see pics in thread for play wear. Currently has flat wounds on it. Electronics work as they should, bought from original owner, no surprises. Battery cover not original. Shipped in a nice Ibanez Rectangular case for $325.

Send me a PM, I'm in the mood to move some axes.

Shoot Mike... when I saw that group shot I was hoping that x150 was the one you are moving, but I just as quickly dismissed the thought.

Good luck on your sales. Just pm me directly if ever that active EQ does become available and my right arm will be boxed up and ready to ship in 5 minutes...

Sorry to hear there's a sob story involved. It's always hard to part with an Electra. Good luck!

X640s is gone, Rondo is going to take that one off my hands, save on some shipping and take a tour of Mike's studio of Wonders while we're at it (maybe I'll talk him into another guitar or three).

The X160 is much rarer than the (exotic) X150 Active, but doesn't have as big a following or resale to be sure.

Thanks for all the concerned messages and well wishers, but this is just to finance some boring house repairs, no ones going to the hospital!

I think my prices are pretty reasonable, but if you don't, shoot me a offer, maybe we can work something out. Thanks, Mike.

For those looking for other Japanese exotics, take a look at this really rare Charvel I have listed on eBay, probably only six or so were setup like this for their MIDI pickup marketing promotion, never went into production:

Bumpity Bump here. Rondo came by and bought the Active X640 Bass. We also got to open up his Metallic 'Champagne' X135 Phoenix and fix a busted wire on the neck pickup, and then spent some time demo'ing my row of amplifiers. Good times, good times.

Still have the Flamey LX and the rare Brown X160 Active Phoenix available. PM me if interested, will consider any reasonable offers. Ozark, I think you'd really like the LX... drop me a line if you're remotely interested, Mike.

Pictures of the x135C now returned to factory look coming soon. Bill Lawrence blade pickup removed and replaced with a MMK45 to match the original. Thanks to Iceman for the Electrafest giveaway pickups to return this one to stock. I have been plinking on the x640 bass since I got home, but have had to play it thru headphones on the iPad as my amp is on the fritz. Maybe it is time for a new amp!

Ozark is going to take the Flamey LX, along with the decals that McB made. No bites on the X160 yet though... Make me an offer, we can probably work something out! Cheers.

I have this week off, and it would be really convenient to pack and ship this X160... hint hint! It has a lot of things going for it, and is not your run of the mill Phoenix.

* One of the only Matsumoku products to ever sport this Metallic Brown finish
* One of only three Phoenix's to have the four knob diamond shaped placement
* One of only five Electra guitars to have the Power EQ option
* Late release for a Phoenix, production limited to around 14 months

This one was made in November of 1983, finish has some scratches but overall very presentable, Very original except for the gold knobs, wiring described in above post. I am taking a loss already, and can not in good conscience go much lower than 2 Bills plus shipping... drop me a line guys, ease my pain.

Much as I'd love to Mike I've got unfinished business with Joe over a Westone Dynasty that has run the GAStank dangerously low again.

Add to that the fact that April 15th is once again upon us and that's a goocher for certain.

Someone put this poor guy out of his misery... (along with me come to think of it)

Geez, now I know why I hang mostly over at the Westone forum... I drop by here and find this beautiful X160 still available (I assume). Ouch - that golden brown paintc hyp-NO-tizzed me, Buckwheat. Alas, I'm more broke than that tower in Pisa.

The X160 has been sold, going to our very own Automotive Journalist Jack Baruth who was driving through southern Michigan last night, and it will join his enviable stable of Phoenix models.

Jack must be a Ninja - not much sound out of him for a while and then BAM he strikes!
