Well.... I can't keep all my Electra's so I'm thinking of letting this one go. From what I can tell the X270 is pretty rare when it hasn't been butchered. This one is all original except the 3 way switch which I changed today - and all the electronics work as they should. 2 of the 3 mini switches are a little bent but work just fine. There is a decent size chip in the headstock that you can't see from the front, a bit of buckle rash and some other minor dings. The case is in very good shape and it's one of those 5 or 6 inch thick jobs with the word Electra on it. So, cosmetically good to very good, electronically all there and working, plus an excellent Electra case. I can and will post pictures soon. It will go on ebay pretty soon but I wanted to offer it here first. Please no silly low ball offers. And I didn't mention that it plays really well. The neck, frets, tuners, and action are in super condition. So, make me an offer on one of the really hard to find Electra's.

This will be going on Ebay soon - so make me a good offer. All original w OHSC. 2 Flaws someone put a strap button hole to play as a lefty and the back of the headstock.

I'm kind of stupefied that no one seems to have any interest. Does everyone already have one of these???? I doubt it. It reminds me a lot of my stolen Ibanez Musician - except the electronics definitely deliver more power for leads. I believe the X270 to be very near the top of Electra's offerings. Hardware and construction wise it seems to be identical to my Ultima (which is the finest guitar I have ever played - bar none). This guitar is a sustain monster. The electronics - without the boost work great with my tbe screamer pedal. With the boost, I don't use the screamer at all. My 5 watt practice amps can't handle it - My Traynor YGM-3 deals with it but the pedal is too much. The onbosrd stuff drives it like crazy. These are my observations. I have it on ebay for less than I think it's worth but I would certainly let it go for less to someone on the board. Don't get me wrong. I'll be perfectly happy to keep it too.

I expect some comments. Why wouldn't this guitar have people falling all over themselves to get it? Not rare enough? Not different enough? BS I say, It's unique even among Electra's. I'd stack it up against ANY guitar by Gibson or Fender of that era and laugh about the brand name snobbery.

Now that I'm worked up a little, I kind of think I should just keep it and be a hoarder - which is against my normal tendencies - but which would also be smart -which is also against my normal tendencies - I digress..... I could be interested in trades, MPC modules etc... C'mon folks - I know we like to grab 'em cheap and this isn't a tree of life or carved or a Derringer or minty Leslie West - but it's still top of the line goods with circuitry only found in this model. What's not to like?????

I think it's a stunner... I simply have no idea what it's worth. Give me a number, by PM if you like, and let me chew on it.

I picked up my X250 about two years ago for (clears throat) $200 with a light duty case. It has since become my main gigging guitar, yes they are great players! The X250 and X270 are very similar, the differences being an extra 'Bass' EQ knob on the X250, and the X270 has a Brass bridge (instead of a chrome one on the X250), also the X270 has the tiny chrome control indicators just above the knobs. I believe (not certain...) that they have the same 18volt preamp which can turn any tube amp into an overdriven monster (great for live work!).

By keeping the master volume all the way up, and varying the Active volume control you can get anything from crystal clear to swamp metal meltdown from the same pickup... very versatile. And it doesn't hurt that you have coilcut and phase switching options at your fingertips. As with almost all the Electra line, these models just haven't been 'discovered' yet, and market value reflects that. I agree that almost all of my Electras play as good or better than their American competitors, but unfortunately, thats not what drives the market. I'd say hold on to it if you're frustrated with the going prices, who says you can't hold on to all your Electras! I've said the same thing about the Endorsers, especially the Cherry Sunburst ones, that they play as nice as a PRS, are MUCH more rare, and yet typically sell for about one fifth what the PRS customs go for... what gives? Well, name recognition and resale are the factors that will eventually reward us collectors when the tide changes! Here's my X250 at ElectraFest 2010:

I think it is interesting that many of the new Ibanez guitars use the same neck/heel design that this guitar used. I have played some of these (the Ibanez and not the Electra's) and this a a nice feature for a "value" guitar.

Well, Dude, I hope you're not trying to say that my X270 is a "value" guitar. I figure you're just saying "good job" to Ibanez. This X270 happens to be the finest guitar I have. - (Beats my SG for overall playability, Ebony f-board on SG is better) ( Beats my Rick 330 for overall sound(( PEQ is untouchable)) and it bears my MIJ Strat across the board. This is a guitar that is top quality from top to bottom and if you don't believe it, I'll consider shipping it to you so you can play it too. PM me if you're a non-believer. I kid you not - This thing is "probably" nicer than my Ultima (X960). Ever have a guitar that makes you feel like a better player right off the bat? For me it's this one and the Ultima. The only reason I keep the Ultima is because of the effects. Honestly, If you play live, the 270 rules BIG. Otherwise it" a killer guitar with a gimmick. ( That just happens to be really usable).

I was referring to the Ibanez. Sorry for any confusion on that statement. I was simply saying "imitation is the greatest form of flattery".
