OK - so a guy contacts me that hasn't been able to get activated here on the forum. Has an X420 Custom Pro that he wants to sell. Was curious if I'd post about it and he's going to send me a link to teh photos... I guess he's looking for offers before putting it on the 'bay. So, if anyone's egas is bad for this model, I should have the link soon. I don't know the seller, never played the guitar... all I know is its a U.S. seller and he claims it was his grandfather's. Hope its someone's dream guitar - I have a "no-more-black-guitar" policy that I'm trying to stick to.

No more Black does not work as egas only makes you see it in a different color and still makes you want it. Ain't Egas great :hyper:

Maybe a bit more white is the answer...

This is becoming too common... If sellers post on CraigsList, someone here will see it. There are enough of us using nationwide CL search engines that very little falls through the cracks (if you ask me).

I suppose (if someone was willing to post their personal email) we could have a 'Sticky Note' at the top of both auction and for sale sections for sellers to get in touch with someone who would post it here. Just a suggestion. Obviously we love looking at stuff being offered, but signing up and then bailing once the guit changes hands seems like the forum has been violated... kinda.

Yeah, Mike... I see your point. Newbies showing up just to "use" us (or rather, the site) for info and to make a quick buck. In some ways, it does kinda suck. But I respect that this guy has been upfront about it. He says he inherited the guitar... here's the link. I haven't looked at it until now: http://www.danielmayfield.com/x420/

~ Its sorta pretty... for another one of those darn'd black geetars. Of course, Iceman is making me eat my words. (Speaking of, I have an all original '78 Ibanez Iceman IC200... in black, of course) :mad2: :mad2:

All should have one of the 420's....fine working/stage guitars. It's the first model Electra I ever owned back when I was trying to make money at playin at makin music.

That's about the time that I found out that musicians wouldn have nothin to eat or a place to stay if it weren't for girlfriends and mommas.

If the day ever comes that you can no longer bear that burden, well... you know where to reach me.

Mike,

I totally agree in principle with what your sentiments are on newbies who are just joining for a little "wham-bam-thank you, ma'am". And I can't see where we help matters either by sharing our love and respect for this brand so openly (and gushingly) at times. We keep beating the drum and doggone it if folks are beginning to listen.

Unfortunately it is all too easy for me to violate said principle when it means getting a crack at an Electra before it is exposed to a larger market like ebay. Most times it seems that the charlatan proffering the guitar thinks our love for them will automatically translate into an above market payoff if they dangle it here.

It is a rare seller indeed who will be reasonable on the asking price knowing it also means that the reassurance of the axe going to a buyer who will truly appreciate it is included in the transaction.

~ for goofs and giggles... here's part of my black guitar herd. The Ibanez is an all-original 1978 IC200. At the time of this photo, i had inactive EMGs in there (without having to make any new holes, etc)... that was a short-lived White Zombie phase I was going through. I have the Super80 pickups back in it now... and it has beautiful, aged binding with just enough battle scars to boast a little. It was my first electric, and if possible, will never leave me (sorry, Ice!). I guess the goofs and giggles part is the I actually like Pirate movies... don't be too harsh (the first one would be a classic if they didn't make all those darn'd sequels).
