HI Folks,
I am an avid collector of 70's MIJ guitars. I have several Fernandes strats and Tele's as well as a Greco SG.
I have had this really beautiful '72 Electra 2242 (one of the 1st 28 made I believe?) for quite some time and find that I just don't play it as much as it should be played...
It sounds great! I have recorded several records with it in the past but now it's time to pass it on to someone that can give it the love it deserves.
You can find pics and more info on it here http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/3495324651.html
Also if you can offer any more details I'm always down guitar geek out! The HS is the exact copy of a an early 70's LP right down to the 'custom' trust rod cover...

Cheers,
RW13

Very nice, but the "VonZuko" price evaluation is WAY off-search for the thread on this site titled Electra ebay sales and you will get a more realistic price guide. Not trying to flame you, nice guitar and good luck to ya.

Thanks Joe! I'm not really sure what is a fair asking price hence my decision to post in this forum. They seem to sell for between $400-$600 on Ebay. Yet, I read someplace that one of the 1st 28 made in '72 may be worth a lot more...If anyone has any info on the 1st 28 story I would love to hear it!!!

I've never heard that story myself, but there are a lot more people on here with better knowledge than I-my question would be how would you ascertain it was one of those first produced given the lack of record keeping on the early models, serial numbers are basically useless for dating the instruments. I'm curious to see if someone chimes in with any info or distinguishing markings on the aforementioned "first 28"-I've probably owned close to a dozen of the early super rocks over the years, maybe I've given away a winning lottery ticket :o

I saw the "1st 28" bit in a Harmony Central or Gearslutz thread I believe...All I know is this particular guitar is 100% factory original and is def the 2242 model...As far as lottery tickets go :P I fully play into the belief that if it doesn't say F****r or G****n on it...It's worth the average lawsuit values which ATM seem to run between $300-$1200 (for higher end Greco and Ibanez models) or whatever a serious collector is willing to pay...But I'm just as curious as you and I also hope someone chimes in on the...Let's call it "Legend of the First 28" haha...
