I've given up on this thing. Hit me up in this thread or via PM if anyone has any questions. I'd consider killing the auction if a forum member wishes to make an offer.

I keep starin' at that ad - MUST LOOK THE OTHER WAY - but I can't. I keep thinking, I have these parts, and I could get this here, and this here... I don't need another project. Someone help me! Did you attempt to glue it or is the break clean?

Good luck with the sale. I see it ends soon.

I talked with Steve on the phone for a while about this. I have the same thoughts, but with a garage purchase looming, I just can't take on another item...

Steve hasn't done anything with it since he got it. in one of the pics there's what looks to either be flaking of the finish at the crack (expected) or glue residue, but it's so tiny it's hard to tell.

In order to get this type of damage, looks like it went over on it's face, and someone fell on it at the same time.

would be a good low cost way to get a rare player...

I haven't detected specific evidence of it having been glued, but the previous owner said "it needs re-gluing." So, who knows? I'm not an expert on this type of thing, and I have not had a luthier look at it.

I thought about parting it out, but decided to leave it together in hopes that some nut case swoops in to save it (I'm looking at you guys).

There are currently 287 page views, and 15 watchers, and one active bid on the auction. 2 days, 19 hours to go.

I am one of your watchers.

I know a guy that can fix it even if I can't, but I don't have a clue what that would cost me - all a pretty big deal. But I do have a module, I have spare pickups (even if they are not mmk 45s, they are a good match). But it kind of scares me, as I haven't tried fixing one with this severe of a break before. I don't see these often enough to have a good idea what it would be worth when it is fixed, and that depends on how well I could do the job. I'd like my buddy - Jay Kolanda of NTL guitars in Nashville to fix it because he could fix it so that you couldn't even tell it was worked on, but that may cost more than another one. I have seen what i believe was another one in this condition on Craigslist a while back, I don't think it was this one.

I'd love to have it. I am on the fence though. I just don't know if I can handle it. I am glad you didn't part it out. I'd like it to look relatively like it hadn't had the damage and I don't have the skills to do that. Somebody is going to snag this thing up.

here's another MPC that looks like it had a somewhat similar break, and a neck plate was added for strength. (though the auction does not state it).

this method could probably work well for this one too...

Got it! I am going to exchange some amp work with a luthier friend that will help me tackle this. I'll get it going again. I have some of the parts needed and can do the electronic work no problem. I will report back. I never played one and don't recall if I had seen one or not, so I hope it works out. If not, I still have some usable parts. Thanks.

Well played, sir! Congratulations.

I'm happy it's staying within the inner circle of the Electra enthusiast family, and very interested to see the end result.
