Just won on ebay. One of the oddest Electras I've ever seen, certainly the only one that same with stock P-90's. Pretty much a copy of a Gibson Melody Maker, yes?

I think it was made by Terada, 75 or earlier. Mickey points out the similarities to an Outlaw. Either it was never around around long enough to appear in any SLM catalog, or else (my current theory) it was a model sold by PCM but not by SLM.

I have an Electra LP of the same vintage with exactly the same inlay headstock, it'll be interesting to compare.

Nope, pretty much an identical copy of a c 1958-61 Gibson Les Paul Special. How do you keep finding these gems X? I've been looking for a really good LP Special copy for over 5 years and none I've seen look to be in that ones league!

I'm hoping that with some TLC it will straighten up to play well! Hard to know, especially when there's obviously some neck work to be done. How good -can- it be? We'll see, I'll keep you posted.

What's up with that bridge? Is that an imitation of something Gibson, or is it like anything else?

Can't answer you, but it reminded me of when I fixed up my Super Rock. Under the bridge it was stamped. LP BRIGE MADE IN JAPAN. Brige, I thought that was funny.

I've seen that bridge before X. Basically it's a copy of the original Gibson 50's wraparound stop tailpiece. The staggered saddles are a more recent aftermarket addition to assist with intonation (the original Gibson ones were notorious for intonation problems). It's possible it's the original bridge.

And the good news is: I was able to remove the belt buckle without much damage to the finish. turns out it was glued on with a big wad of silicone putty, so I just pried it off. ditto with the mickey mouse token on the upper right corner of the body (never even noticed it in the pics).

Just bumping this old thread...

Hi!,

I'm just letting you all know that I have exactly the same guitar! Except mine has "Axiom" on the headstock which according to internet sources was an Australia only brand name for Ibanez (Hoshino Gakki). Supposedly made circa 1975 by some (unknown at this stage) OEM manufacturer in Japan. Other than that I can't give you anymore information on it except mine has a little sticker with "Model No. A3007" on it on the rear of the headstock. I recently bought it for $75 from a local pawnbroker along with the original case.

The only differences between your guitar and mine is the different bridge (mine appears original) and knobs and that the neck side strap button on mine appears to have been originally located on the heel of the neck (and subsequently moved to the bass horn by a previous owner).

You are the only other person I can find on the Net that has this exact same guitar as me!

Here's a thread about my guitar on another website:

Cheers,

Alan.
