Hi my new X290 arived today and it is actualy almost like new. Thre is absalutly no fret weare and the paper is still on the back cover :)

However I think the 3-way switch is shot. It worked intermitantly and the pots were scratchy so I hit it and them with some contact cleaner. This cleaned up the pots and improved the 3-way. So I hit the 3-way with more cleaner and it got worse :( .

I expect I will have to replace it. Will a standard 3-way such as from Stew-mac work? I am not well versed in guitar electranics.

Thanks in advance.

standard 3-way is fine.

What you want to look for is one that is close in physical size. the electronics are standard guitar 3-way switch, yes, like from Stewmac. SHout if you need more sources, there are others that have more selection.

Thanks, It looks like the one from StewMac will do. If not I will get back on here and ask. This has been a great resource. Thanks to all for the help.

Well the three-way switch from Stew Mac arrived. I installed it and it actualy works :D . I am enjoying my X290.

One thing that was not clear was that the switch moves sideways; i.e., the switch moves perpandicular to the length of the switch. The original moved in line with the lenght of the switch which I thought was normal. There was just enough room for it to fit. Just a heads up for people doing a replacement in the future.

Thanks to everryone for their help with this.
