One of my favorite guitar sites, the Cheesyguitars Forums, went down for an upgrade and hasn't re-emerged. I wish I knew how to reach the admin, to offer help. I know there's at least one other cheesy fan who's a regular here, any news?

I have one Tonika guitar, a red Rostov, and a body of a Ural bass. Also a matching red Rostov bass (I hope!)

Tonikas are really really strange. The bodies are heavy as hell, polished hardwood like a school bench, circa 1950. The neck is... well, the whole thing feels like a shovel, not a guitar. It's amazing. I mean, even with the strangest body shape in the world, you;d think it would feel -something- like a guitar.

but it was built behind the iron curtain by workers who had never seen an electric guitar in person- they'd seen pictures, and they knew what an acoustic guitar was, but this thing has all the aerodynamics of a scarecrow.

And I absolutely love it, and think it's the coolest guitar int he world. More on Toniikas here:

But the forums are still down! What gives? I know, I went through the v3 upgrade too, the docs are awful and you can get hung up if you don't realize you gotta make a new database, with a new name. it's all a different installation, not a patch on the old one. You set it up side by side and then import the data over.
