Hello All, there's a clean Blonde Invicta on the Bay currently:

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-80-ELECTRA- ... 240%3A1318

I haven't seen one in about six months. Looks to be totally stock, just over 7 lbs., no case but Darn Clean, maybe too clean for my tastes (I like them beat, with a worn maple fretboard)! Very Reasonable 'Buy it Now' price ($275), although personally I'm tapped out from a new home purchase. Somebody should pick it up.

Well, the seller lowered the 'Buy it Now' price to $250 last night, and I was chomping at the bit to buy it, but I went outside to rake leaves instead. When I came back in someone had snatched it up, good for them, it's a real beauty.

While I'm sure I would have thoroughly enjoyed it, I have a hard time justifying a purchase right now with a shoddy economy, 30 years of mortgage payments ahead of me and the holidays coming up, not to mention the ten or so guitars down in the basement that I don't play often enough already. If someone on here picked it up, tell us how she plays, Mike.

I didn't buy it but I was very close. Last night I almost got her but my computer locked up as I was clicking the buy it now. I took it as a sign and let her go. I feel the same way I've got too many darn guitars now.

That being said I went to Guitar Center today with a friend to get some cables and stands etc...(had a gift card) anyway I saw an incredible vintage Jazz Bass. Too bad it was 2000 bucks my wife would have killed me. I also was tempted by a very wild looking used gibson les paul that had a almost warped finish aged to look really beat up but with a very cool vintage vibe. That was a little bit more reasonable around $750 but still I couldn't justify another guitar. I actually proud of myself. I went in for some accessories and only got what I went in for. Wasn't easy but I did it.

Lars, I commend you on your 'self control' ! I find myself drooling over all kinds of stuff lately, and I just have to take a deep breath and ride it out. I haven't played a Invicta ever, but I have a feeling they're lighter than a Endorser, and I have a soft spot for Maple Fretboards. While not quite as versatile or ornamented as a 935, I bet they're fun to play and 'Wear In'.

But now you've got a Endorser, Vulcan and a Outlaw, I wouldn't be too disappointed if I were you! Was wondering how your Outlaw plays? I hear that they're pretty heavy and have big neck profiles, I like the way the neck heel looks though. Somewhere on here I read that they were one of the few 80's Electras that WEREN'T made by Matsumoko.

Keep the faith, Mike.

Mike, check out my new baby

Well I picked this guitar up about a month or so ago. It's a very rare Gibson Custom Neil Young Les Paul. I believe only 20 of these were made before Neil put out a cease and desist order. All of these were exported to Japan for some weird reason.

Well there's a curious Pickup combination... looks like a P-90 in the neck and a Firebird metal pickup in the bridge. And do I spy a mini switch between the pots? I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Neil Young signature model. I have found myself looking at the Jimmy Page sunburst reissue, which there seems to be like 8 different versions of (investor beware!). How does the Bigsby behave with the Tune-o-Matic Lars? enjoy, Mike.

Maybe Mr. Young didn't authorize the Neil Young Les Paul? What I've read about his black Les Paul is that he bought it used. It had been re-painted black, with a brush, but the pickups are incredible.

i was just listening to a program hosted by randy bachman talking about neil young's guitar and how he gets his sound... apparently he has had that same black les paul forever... but with respect to the pickups, apparently he has a fender humbucker in the neck position and a firebird at the bridge....
