if anybody happens to have an Outlaw apart at the moment,

I'd like a picture (or 2) of the brass ingot that the bridge fits into. dimensions would be good too, as it looks like I might be making one...

also I could use a tracing of the pickguard :)

Man I just got the Outlaw back together... but if no one else volunteers, I can take the 'catface' pickguard off and trace it for you. Let me get some more time on those strings first though!

That ingot is going to be tough to find, or machine from scratch for that matter. I can take a bunch of measurements and pictures, but have you thought about sinking a pair of studs instead, or would they be too deep and infringe on the MPC route?

P.S. I tried to take the ingot out when I first got the Outlaw and it's in there pretty good, I started to snarf up the phillips head, so I stopped...

I'm still gathering parts, so have lots of time to wait for the pickguard tracing... plus I'd hate to see you rip it apart allready.... I may be able to make my own model from cardboard first too, as it looks symetrical for the most part....

for the ingot, I've been looking at some brass blocks that looks like they could be shaped to fit in the hole, and drilled to accept a "normal bridge" set-up, but until I have the outlaw in my hands, I won't know enough....

I'm going to initially wire it up with all new switches/pots and module slots if all the parts fit... and if they do, I'll have extras of new components if anyone ever wanted to try and "MPC" a different body...I thought about doing this to a Longnecker some time ago, but never went anywhere with it....

can I get a pic of the stop piece front and rear, and thickness? Ithink I'm going to go ahead and make one of those too...

is it plated brass or a "normal" cast piece?

Tailpiece is definitely not brass, and remember my bridge is an aftermarket brass one, should be chrome. Looks like your basic cast part that has been chrome plated to me, but I'm no expert. The ingot is under the pickguard, so I'll have to pull that up to take pictures and measurements, at which time I can unmount the pickups and switch and trace it for you. Enjoy, Mike.

thanks! The height of the tail piece is bigger than I thought! but I guess I was close at 3/8".

I got my outlaw yesterday! it's actually pretty nice shape cosmetically...
the ingot is glued in based on what my hole looks like, so no need to try and pull it out.. just a pic maybe of how it looks embedded in the wood without the bridge on....

I bought a couple things off eBay last night... brass nut, and a brass bar that I should be able to make into an ingot....

The outlaw was much lighter than I was expecting, but I suppose I am used to picking up basses, and the oputlaw is totally gutted. the only metal things left on it, are the truss rod and the anchors for the tail piece.... oh, and a short piece of grounding wire :)
