Hey guys, might this be a 2254? Sounds like it has gold hardware (in the pic it looks silver however). It also appears to have had at least one of the pups changed (bridge).

From the listed photos it appears to be but would need to see stamp on back neck plate to be certain. Pickups are not original. Hope this helps as I know you have been searching for one. Good Luck

It looks like the 2254 Inca Gold Rock....

though the one catalog just says metallic gold top and has the bridge pup uncovered, the '73 cat just says gold finish with gold hardware and pups (both covered)...

the sticker on the back of the neck definitely is marked 2252 though....

It's conceivable that the neck got swapped with a Red (2252) guitar at one time... I'd wager that it was just miss-marked at the factory or distributer.
