You guys will enjoy this link. It's a very summarized look into Westone's history, with some Electra MPC stuff at the beginning.

It's really cool that Tom has surfaced and had told his part of the Electra story.

He mentions John Karpowicz' company Amerel, which developed the MPC modules. Notice the Amerel name on the lower left side of the phaser module circuit board in this photo from my other thread (viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4533):

From the great Ampeg book co-authored by Gregg Hopkins, who operates Vintage Amp Restoration here in Saint Louis. Gregg does fantastic work on any vintage amp, and is the absolute authority on vintage Ampegs. Plus he's a super nice guy and killer bass player.

I would love to pick Tom's brain about models and the decision making process. Most of the info on the Westone site is skewed towards the electronics side of things and the emphasis is on Westone, which is cool no doubt. Also he drops a lot of Japanese names of the contacts he had, which is a real insight into the things going on as the industry blossomed during that time. Great stuff.

I sent him a PM earlier today requesting that he join this web forum -

and I mentioned the very same things that you did as the reason we would really enjoy his participation here.

Thanks,

I've been wondering for the longest time about contacting Tom, to see if he could be found.

Wow!

It would really be awesome if we could get him to attend Electrafest 2010 and share his knowledge.
