Most of Nashville flooded this week end including the Grand Ole Opry and Opry Land Hotel. Down town is flooded also stopping just short of the Ryman (old opry house) If you have plans to travel this way you might want to check it out first, heres a url to a local news station web page

The news station flooded also. I'm not a big country music fan but I pass this stuff every day and grew up in its shadow.

Glad to hear you are OK. I used to have some friends in Nashville but lost touch over the years.

Saw some footage just yesterday of the Nashville flood. Report said that no ones even been inside the Opry to see how bad the damage is. What a loss man. I've never been, but I think they have a bunch of Country Memorabilia there, including the Bigsby Joe Maphis prototype guitar. Glad to hear that your place was spared, best of luck to you and your fellow Tennesseans, Mike.

I am happy that you sustained no major damage. I have been through 2 major floods here in south Ga and they are not fun. In 1994 Macon Ga flood we lost the waterworks and had no running water or drinking water for 3 months. They had to ship it in in bottles and distribute it. What a mess it was. Glad all are safe

Thanks for the support guys. This was the biggest one since 1979. I saw Keith Urban on the news telling how he lost all his guitars, amps and equipment when his home flooded. I was still detoured around the Opry House and Hotel this morning and this evening. You could still see water on the road infront of the Opry House.

The loss to the music community is staggering. I hear that Soundcheck has been flooded, too. Soundcheck is a warehouse facility that has tour support, storage, and backline rentals. They have several stages-- small to large, available in separate rooms for acts to rehearse and to conduct musical and technical pre-production for tours. Imagine a full sized stage from an arena, set up in a private room. Just the stage, no space for audience.

Also, many touring acts have warehouse space to store all their touring equipment. Instruments, amps, staging, sets, support equipment, etc. All of it flooded. Rumor is that Vince Gill alone has $1M worth of guitars under water. Many many acts are based out of this facility.

See photos and read details here:

http://soundchecknashville.com/wordpress/

The guy I work for has some of his gear down there-- including custom made drums, keyboards, monitors, staging, set pieces, etc.

It kind of makes me ill to think about it.

:bawl: This is indeed sad to see but I fear the worst will come out in scammers as they will soon most likely be selling off the damaged gear as original vintage equip and will of course not bother to tell anyone it was under water or flooded. Better make certain who you buy from for some time if you like the vintage gibsons. fenders, etc. I hope that they can restore all the damaged equipment for the owners but buyer beware.

The river dropped back to its banks today sooner than expected. All the area dams are now draining off what they can. I was able to drive by the Opryhouse this morning. I dont know if any of you ever been there before but the stretch of road in front of the Opry looks like an NHRA drag strip. No standing water but it was still wet. The police have all the exits blocked to Opry Mills Mall, Opry House and Hotel. There is a Gibson Guitar shop and store in the mall also.
