Long time lurker, now I've finally got a reason to join. Recently bought a Dynasty. Been looking for a red Dynasty for a little while, but wanted to find one in great condition without the points all busted up. That's not easy to find, either. Most of the Dynasty's I'd seen have more than a few battle wounds.

I'd found one in Craigslist that claimed to be in nice condition. Found out once I'd gotten there that it had been in storage for over 25 years, and had barely been played. Consequently it had 5 rusty strings, rusty frets, some of the black painted metal had rusted, rusted pick up poles, springs, and screws, and was just generally grimey. The electronics worked well so I bought it. Took it home, removed the strings, taped off the fretboard and pickups, and used steel wool followed by polishing compound on each fret. Then I removed the rust from the screws, springs, bridge, and pick up poles and re-blackened them, cleaned and oiled the fretboard, cleaned and polished the body,restrung it with Elixers, and adjusted the truss rod and saddles for a good set up. Looked pretty bad at first, but here she is now.







Plays great, sounds amazing (crazy combinations available), and she honestly looks like a new guitar, not a mark on her body. After these pics were taken, I'd released the strings, loosened the neck screws and realigned the neck slightly to bring the strings where they ought to be. I'm blessed to have this "new" 1984 Dynasty, and I like it a lot. I lead worship with it at church now, and the teens especially love it. Anyway, glad to be on the forums. I look forward to more Electra's in the future!

Welcome to the forums. Great job on the cleanup and it does look new. Great find indeed. Always glad to see another one brought back to life. It is amazing how the younger generation takes to the Electras. They always ask about them and once they try them out they are amazed at how the play and feel. These are indeed hard to find without the points dinged and chips in them. Would like to see this one at Electrafest this year. Thank You for giving us a look at her.

Thanks for the comments guys, glad to be on here! It is funny how the younger generation takes to Electras. As soon as I'd gotten it out they were on it with "oh man", "cool", "sweet" and other such expressions. When I told them it was from '84, the smiles left their faces and they looked deeply puzzled until one of them finally said "huh?". I love those kids, too funny.

Big Electra/Westone fan. I really like the X-199CR and Spectrum FX, the Workingman, Dimension IV, and the X-935 Trans Black ProEndorser. These are on my wish list. But sadly whenever I talk about them, my Wife just cringes and lectures me on our "budget". She's an accountant

When and where is Electrafest? I don't know anyone else who likes these, that would be a good time.

We need a close up of the headstock, I've never seen the logo quite like that. Because of the 'Bird' I would guess that the first digit of the Serial Number is a '3' for 1983. Oh, and welcome aboard! Mike.

I do have the EGAS. Could be worse though, I could go after the G's and F's! Not that I'd want to, though. Somebody blessed me with a 2009 '61 Reissue Gibby SG, and it's a fantastic guitar, but I actually like the Electra just as well if not more, even though it's a whole lot less expensive!

The serial number starts with a 4, actually. I'll get a close up of it real soon for you guys.

Thanks for the Fest info. That's my Wife's birthday... maybe I can disguise it as a "birthday roadtrip", and then just happen to "stumble upon" the Electrafest?!

Here's some closeups of my headstock. Took them with my cell phone last night after church so they're not too great, but it shows the serial number and the logo. Starts with a 4, so '84 apparently. What do the other numbers mean?

'05' means it was made in May of 1984, 1823 is it's place in that months production totals. From the original pictures, I thought it said 'Dynasty' under Electra, but now we know for certain. After 1983 we rarely see "Electra" so this is curious to say the least. Very clean example, be sure to try the rear humbucker with the Middle pickup tone, plenty of 'oink' there. Enjoy, Mike.

I thought all Electra-Westone badged models were made in 1984? If they were also made or mostly made in 83 then I've learned something new.
