couldn't resist...

looks like a SLM to me, but not a model I've ever seen before....

I got it... 3 others tried to get it :)

This will be interesting to see... I got gotten more pictures from the seller, but none of the full headstock...

the more I think about it, it has to be an early SLM run that never made it to a catalogue....

I agree that the seller is photography challenged... what up with that? Anytime I see a odd guitar with a bolt neck, I always find myself thinking of possible shenanigans. Good luck though, tell us if it's resurrectable, Mike.

hmmm... I do have a pic of this headstock out there on my pages already...
I'll have to dig through my photos and see if I have any more pics of the bass it came from...

it's definitley not the same headstock/neck used on the SG and LP basses...

from the additional pics I did get, it just needs a pup, some electronics, and the floating bridge... doesn't *appear* to be any other damage...

Glad to hear you got it mcbrat - The pickup looks like a standard gibson type hb and the wiring should be a snap for you. The bridge, being a floater shouldn't be too bad either. I searched a little to see if I could find a picture and came up with this:

thanks! I remember seeing that page, plus I think the eBay listing when he resold is the one I grabbed my headstock pic from...

I thought about the pups too....
The old one like this and the LP Rock Bass, are actually just cheapo single coils in a HB housing, and were not the best build quality...
so since one is missing....

this makes 4 projects now... I gotta start working on them :)
The "Corsair" is furthest along, in that it's almost ready for a new coat of paint...
The other 2 are just hanging on the "multi-stand"...
the x-640S feels pretty good and looks decent too, just needs to have the active electronics put into it...
the Quantum feels pretty decent too, now that I have the strap length in the right spot... and the 32" scale combined with flat wounds makes it easy to play fast... still trying to decide what to do with the paint job on it... since I'll be flipping it eventually, do I make it stock looking, or give it a wild color... like fluorescent orange!

hmmm... mine is a brother to this one. prety much all identical, except for the fretboard inlays, and the headstock logo...
neck plate is the same too, except I'm guessing the S/N is different....

http://cgi.ebay.com/Univox-U-1835-Coily ... 5adff765d0

I've got an adjustable 2 piece wood bridge coming... similar to the original...

still trying to decide what to do for pickups... trying to find a 4-pole true humbucker size pup is proving to be tedious... since the original pups are single coils in a HB shell, I may just do 2 single coils with a HB type adapter ring.... or possibly just reuse the existing neck pup, and put a rail pup in the bridge position.....

The odd thing about sniping is - I don't mind losing to someone who's been in the bidding - the last second people who have never bid tick me off. I admit to having been one of those guys before. I really prefer best offer scenarios. I hope you prevail this time mcbrat.

yeah, I thought I had put stupid enough money on it, but I guess not... well, this other one isn't a Maxon, but it looks the same as what's already in my bass.... and hopefully I've made this one safe... but if someone goes over me, then I guess they REALLY need it... I can get a nice new pair of matching rail HBs to fit in for what I lost the single one for... oh well... I just think it'll look better with original style pups in it :)
