I have an old westone dynasty that I bought back in '86. The tailpiece that holds the end of the strings broke off. It is the little fork that holds the end of the individual strings in the tailpiece. This tailpiece is the "Wammy" bar part. I am just hopping that I can save this guitar. The "D" string can no longer be strung on this guitar because of the broken tailpiece. Any thoughts? Beside a new git.

westones are way cool!

exactly what part? part of the bridge? one solution is to run a new tremolo bridge... or find someone who 'upgraded' and get their original teklok or bendmaster bridge.

got photos? what color? I've got a Dynasty too, a graphite one. I know of also red and white with pinstriping...

Don't give up on the Dynasty (unless you want to find a new home for it :) they're way cool, lightweight, very stable, awesome slide guitar.

I have the white "V" Dynasty with red pin stripes. The piece that broke is the piece that holds the end of the string at the tailpiece. The forks that hold the end of the string broke off. This is the piece that you move when tuning the srting from the bridge. I went out and got a piece of steel stock and will be refabricating the piece since it comes from an older model. '87ish. Wouldn't be getting rid of this one. Too much history for me to part with it. I bought it one Month before I got married and it have out lasted that disaster. If all else fails I will simple remont another tail piece that doesn't have the wammy bar on it. I don't use that part of the guitar anyway. I just like the different sounds I can get out of this One guitar. Thanks for your input. I will send you a line when I get it fixed.

Good on you for hanging on to a guitar you have history with, especially such a cool one.

Keep an eye out on ebay, I see bridges show up occasionally. Sure beats a hundred bucks for a new one! You might also repost your request to the Wanted forum.

I agree with you that for the most part I like to mount the bridge non-floating (with enough tremelo springs to hold the bridge against the body).

The Dynasty had the Bendmaster FT bridge/stringlock set-up which has little stringball claws at the bridge which break quite readily when you hurry the string change and get the stringball in the wrong place, i.e. beside the claw not in it.
They're an orphan part nowadays and just about impossible to find, although Wammiworld hold Kahler bits that look about right...
