I want to get another guitar for gigs. My main axe right now is my Gibson RD Artist, which is 9.5 lbs and gets really heavy after the 2nd set. The RD is hard to beat for tonal variety. I want a lighter guitar with coil taps, out of phase, and humbuckers too. And your choice is??? Because????

If you like the LP style then I would suggest the Electra Studio Zephyr. It has a 6 way rotary switch plus a 3 way as well. Nice and comfortable to play and lightweight also.

The Above auction is for one of the nicest Invictas I've seen in quite some time. First month of production, 72 serial numbers away from mine which weighs 6.5 pounds. Mahogany body and neck, Maple Flame Vaneer. Auction will end with no bids at $450, I'd make an offer of $400 shipped and see if the seller goes for it. No phase switch, but it does have a coilcut. For the price of a Epi LP you get a 30 year old piece of art. Just my two cents.

The Ash bodied Phoenix's are nicely weighted, but some of the painted models can be heavy. RobotDoctor's X189 was 9.8 lbs when we weighed it a ElectraFest 2009. But yeah, hard to beat the options vs. cost on a Phoenix.

Since you did mention the brand in your title... have you considered a Westone Concord? Obviously not the variety of pup configurations you would have in a Phoenix, but a model III might fit the bill if a Strat style axe is being considered.

The Westone Thunder line is another avenue that might be worth investigating. Those guits are darn near bulletproof for gigging as far as I have heard and read.

For a bargain the APII TS series and Vantage VS series are good but they do tend to be heavy.

...SCORE!! Found a Aria Pro II TS 400 for $200 on Nashville CL. It's got a couple worn frets, but not terrible, and some buckle rash, but worth the asking price. I like the 2 octave neck as it's the same scale as my RD, and the switching options really fit the bill. Looks to have a home made case, but I've got a nice case that works good.

That is a bargain. My TS 350 is one of my favorites.
