I have been all over this forum yesterday whilst waiting to get
activated and I must say this is the most comfortable, home feeling
forum I have ever been in. And I've been in quite a few.

Some really cool folks here. I'm not a collector. I just own one.
Belong to my dad. Thinking of selling it. Not sure yet.

I will be making a post in the sales forum here soon.

I just wanted to stop here first and express how humble and
awesome this forum was and would love to stick around
even if I'm not an Electra guru ;)

But I will say they are fantastic and well made guitars
and have their own special and unique details.

Talk soon
Mitch

Welcome to the forums! I'm sorry if you don't want to keep your Electra but we all understand. We like keeping the Electras in the hands of people who enjoy and respect the brand. We love pictures and the stories behind the guitars so we would love to see and hear your story about your Dad and his Electra (and other guitars, bands, info, etc).

Welcome Mitch, you are correct in your observations-not a group of egos here! We all enjoy our common interest in the unsung(except here)Electras, not your average guitar sniffers-
If you play at all,if it's an Electra,if it was your dad's, I would keep it,play it,enjoy it,pass it down.... but if you have to let one go,this is always your best first option. Pics?
Welcome and stick around
Joe

This Guitar was an addition to the MANY guitars
my Dad owned. There was nothing that my dad spoke of that
made it real special other than the fact it was the most detailed and beautiful
guitar that dad had in his collection.

I think I played it 3 total times growing up. My very first gig was when I was 8
at my school talent show I did Johnny B Good on this guitar with a friend that played
drums. Wearing cowboy boots and a western shirt and Levi jeans all rolled up because they
were too long. In a catholic school I was a soar thumb that night but because I was the
only music/band act. It was amazingly a hit and a very memorable night. My mom still
has a video of it along with a video of my class jumping up and down on the wooden bleachers
in the back of the gym during the song.

And the other two times was years ago when I would just pull it out and try out all the
modules that dad recently found and it was a new thing. So of course I had to try and see what they
all did.

What brought me here at first was, I wanted to learn a little about this guitar. More than worth just
history. But the more I read in these forums is passion and love for a well made instrument and craftsmanship. Then it played through my head something that my dad told me a few years before he passed
that has stuck with me. "Son...when I pass you know you get all these. But these guitars were meant for one thing...and that's to play. Not look at, not put in a glass case or sit in a corner and collect dust. If you don't play it..sell it to some one who will."

And that played back reading all your post. If I do decide to sell I want it to go to a collector, not a reseller. I want some one who will play it. But I'm still thinking on it. I know I'll never play it, I haven't for years. It's set in the corner and gave me dirty looks...lol. The memories aren't in the guitar. They are in my mind and heart and pictures and videos.

Well I hope that this story and photo finds you all well and will be reading some of your stories soon.

Talk soon
Mitch

here's the fiddle. I have more, I'll post later.

HA! Wow. Is there a book titled this?

My buddy Doug Seven was standing here when I said
that and he said someone sent him a book entitled that
EGAS time back.

Might not be the same thing but it would be funny if it was.

I'm excited. Put new strings on the Electra and wanted to make
sure everything was working properly and had Doug play around on
it..Other than some scratchy Pickups everything seems to work nice.

Edit: Scratchy Pots...not pickups...lol

Welcome to the forums and thanks for letting us in on the story. Most all of us here have one or more great Electra stories that we share here. These are great instruments and are a joy to play. I think out of all the brands out there the Electras seem to have more personality than most and when you play one most times it has some sort of effect on the player such as Wow, unreal , etc. Once you play one for some time you feel as if it becomes a member of the family. Thanks for the history and the pics. She is a beauty.Arthur PS watch out for the Egas as it runs wild around here.

Nice upgrade from the x410 getting worked out at my house. Welcome Mitch! If in fact you do decide some day to part with her believe me I will be the first in line asking about it.

...of course there is the little problem of all of us sharing the same sentiment. Imagine that ...

...liking the backstory, a lot! Your father sounds like a wise man. That said, the memories may indeed be in your mind but the key to unlocking them for you, and especially for the generations to come, will be the guitar; I vote you keep it safe for you and yours....

Take it off the wall every now and then and just close your eyes and strum a chord....

Welcome aboard!

Get some Caig DeOxit for those scratchy pots - it works!

Wow. Here was a treat. A buddy of mine let me record
him playing the Electra. Which I'm glad he did it. Much
better picker than I. LoL

Check it out...tell me what you think.
