well at chrismast I purchace an Electra 2254 Super Gold LP copy which I love, for a 40 year old guitar it as stood up very well its not a 10 but very nice,I did take out the neck pick up to check things out.First does the neck pick up look original and could some one tell me from what material are these guitar made of...

Welcome Daniel. Some additional information will be helpful or more pictures as dating some of the older Electra models can depend on more than just one or two criteria.

Is there any indication of a serial number in the usuals spots? What does the rest of the hardware entail? That sort of thing.

There are more than a few eyes here with much more seasoning than me. I am certain we can get an answer for you, but sometimes it takes abit more detective work to get there.

I did not take the guitar appart other than the neck pick up. I dont feel good about taking more parts off this guitar plays very well as is!!!, action is very low and no fret buzzing and atonation is also very close.
heres a photo of the head stock,and I added the pickguard not a perfect fit its an after market but it works

Appears to be the original,although you can see where someone desoldered the original cover. Most are mahogany sandwich w/caps front and back.

Here are some pictures I took of my ex-2256 Jacaranda, which looks like similar construction to yours:




I cannot vouch for the materials, but I trust Ozark who has been inside a lot more of these than I have. You can see the thin top which has been bent over the body and results in a semi-chambered body. If you tap on the top in different places you should be able to hear a hollow sound in certain spots. I believe the '14' stamped on your pickup indicates 1974, which would be about right for your example. I don't know that the knobs on yours are original, I think they should be the 'witch hat' knobs at that period, no biggie. There is a theory that anything with the 'script' logo was made by Fugi Gen, I can't confirm or deny that. There are no serial numbers on these era instruments to my knowledge, and even if there were, they wouldn't help date it any closer than the marking on the pickups and the pots anyway.

Overall, it looks like a pretty clean example... Congrats, Mike.

This probably goes without saying but the open book headstock obviously dates it pre-1976 as well.

I do know one thing I love playing my Electra and im still debating changing the bridge pick up it does sound a little dark,and I was considering a SD pearly gates. I only have played it true my bandit 112 teal stripe amp but I also have a peavey classic 30 amp that sounds a little clearer so Im going to experiment a little before I make the move on P.U....
