18 different tones... this demo on YouTube has convinced me this is what I wish had been under the Christmas tree. Would love to hear from forum members that have these and their opinion of them... this guy plays so well that he's probably make a two-string cigarbox guitar sound like EVH.

There are like six models that had the H/S/H pickup and switching electronic setup:

X185
X189
X199
XV1 Lady
XV3 Dynasty
X4 Dimension IV

For whatever reason the Dynasty's haven't had very good resale. The one in the video is owned by Forum member Redeye, and I think he only payed around $250 for it, and it looks like it just came from the store, yeah it's that clean, I almost didn't want to play it because I didn't want to put any pick scuffs on it!

For a more traditional body style, check out the H/S/H Phoenix's, which can often be had for under $250. The Lady's are pretty rare, I think only 500 or so were made. The Dimension IV's are branded 'Westone' but have the same electronic setup.

Thanks for the kind words, for more videos check out the link below, Mike.

I have an offer for one of these Dynasty's for $100 with OHSC (assuming its a hardshell case) - but it is out of town and I haven't been able to play it in person. Thinking a bit of a drive may be in order... RedEye has my interest peaked with his fantastic videos. I've seen these for years, but never tried one, and thus, never thought much of them. Thought they were a bit over-the-top with the 80s styling... but considering I can't get 80s music out of my head, it might be a perfect fit.

$100 is a great deal... the pickups alone are worth that (not that I would ever encourage chopping up a 30 year old guitar). There are two distinct Dynasty body styles, the early ones are like the one in the video, with more or less standard Vee points, the later (Westone?) Dynasty's have extra little tabs at the end of the points, and the triangles that protrude from the body are shaped slightly different.

It's Redeye's Dynasty, but that's me playing it, as with all those videos. Cheers, Mike.

I would not pass that one up as it is a great deal no matter what. I have and love my pointy models. The Lady plays really well as do they all including the futura models. The dynasty models do have the most versatile pickup selection and are great players and lookers. I have both the XV3GR and the lipstick red versions and love them all.

If everything goes according to plan, I should have my XV3GR by next week. I'm going against my better judgment and buying sight-unseen (with the exception of some poor camera photos - one attached). The closeups look like there is not a scuff on it. I don't think it will rival Redeye's, but it should prove to be a real looker. The seller, who has been very upfront about everything with the guitar, said in an email that it "may eventually need a new bridge" - but that's true of every guitar. I've asked if the screws are not holding, and await a reply. I do not think it comes with the whammy bar, but will include the original case. With shipping, I'm only into it about $130, so I'm not feeling too donkey-headed over this one.

mortorman's collection still has me frothing at the mouth...

Now if I only had the talent and skill worthy of this beast! (Time will change that).

By coincidence there is a Red XV2RD on Portland,OR craigslist up for sale for $195.00. It has a HSC as well. It is a little too pointy looking for my taste or I would consider it. You guys might want to take a look. Besides, I should consider downsizing instead of increasing the herd haha!

After many starts and stops, I should have the Dynasty in my gnarly-hands this Saturday morning, unless this kid-seller balks at the agreed deal. I will post photos. $100, comes with original whammy and original OHSC. That one in Portland is tempting - I guess no one bought it? It looks like several forum members were looking at it last year and its back on CL. Weird. BTW - thanks again to Mike for inspiring my search for the Dynasty. Your videos are humbling!

I called the guy in PDX and was gonna buy it. At the last minute he said he had "Sellers remorse" so his wife bought it from him, that's what he told me anyway. Not quite sure how that worked, but oh well.

I wonder if this is the same seller with a white one for sale (also in Portland):

That is the right price! Looks like it is missing a knob, though.
