Welcome to you. You have chosen well in picking that model to search out. I did get one recently from a member here that is stock and WOOO-HOOO-WEEE is it a monster for tone.

I wish you well on your quest...

Iceman, Thanks for the welcome. I bought a X250 in 1983 & made the mistake of giving it to a friend's son around 1989. No idea where he or it is now, but I had replaced one of the pickups with a DiMarzio Super Distortion (I think). I contacted the guy in Ohio who is selling his on Craigslist, but it has been modified quite a bit & he came across as a really pushy salesman.

I am not remembering how modified that one is but I would hold out for one with those stock 45's in it if i were you. You will not be disappointed.

So many first guitar gone stories... mine is actually fairly pedestrian. I had a '84-'85 Squier Strat I sold to a bud as I thought I didn't care for it. Ended up buying an '86 NOS in 1988 to make up for it.

...but do I ever miss that first one now. Yellow as a Dole banana... :(

Be patient - one will come around - and probably pretty soon too. I'd say we're about due for one or 2 to show up. Realistically, they're not that common so if there's a good one out there that only have had the pickups changed, you may want to grab it and wait for a set of pickups to come around. As long as the power eq board is working of course. That's what really makes the X270 a cut above.

Good advice there, jead. Plus if you are patient you needn't pay what those jokers on ebay at the moment think they should get for a '45... let alone a pair of them.

$135 for a "flavorful" MMK45 .... give me a friggin break.

Just had a(nother) pair arrive from ebay for $66.00. "For repair only" guitars are another option to end up with a pair too, and Craigslist can be flooded with them at times.

Did you ever find a X270 Fish? Here's a picture of mine, stock except for the strap buttons:

And here it is next to my X250 built about a year later:

This thread has more pictures and info about it:

Only defect is that the active switch has been busted off, thankfully in the 'on' position, which is how I typically use these active guitars, always on. I may be persuaded to part with it for the right offer... shoot me a PM if it catches your eye. Mike.

No problem, I wouldn't let it go too cheap anyway, lol. It's pretty mint and has the premium Electra case with it. I haven't seen one that matches it lately.

Nice try Fish but those are pics of Mike's guitar.

Now we want to see pics of YOUR guitar, not your guitar when it was still Mike's...

Oh heck, we just love looking for goodness sakes... c'mon man, indulge us. :hyper:

You're gonna have to cut the Fish some slack. I just found out he's having surgery on his arm this week. The guitar should arrive today sometime, and hopefully he'll have the strength to unpack it and check it out then. I was really on the fence with this one, but it just doesn't get the playtime it deserves, so I hope this brings back pleasant memories of the Electra from his youth. Mike.
