I stopped in at Guitrails place today to drop off my stuff, check out the streaming speed and generally check things out, and it should be a great event! Randy has been holding out on us guys, turns out he's a 2nd generation Electra Collector. His dad is visiting from AZ and he knows his stuff big time, he's quite the character and it was obvious that he's no greenhorn when it comes to Electra Trivia.

I have done some streaming tests, and provided the wireless connection doesn't melt down it should work for us tomorrow. We'll probably start streaming around 11:30. If you go to the ustream.com site and search for ElectraFest 2012 you'll be able to find the feed. I'll open up the chat feature for you homebodies, but cannot guarantee instant replies as we'll be busy doing what EF is all about: playing instruments we don't own yet!

Randy has a fabulous collection, and his Dad has a couple of nice entries as well. I brought my X910 with me, and probably for the first time since they were new, you the home viewer will have a chance to see two Derringers side by side. I don't have any pics to post right now, but plan to do that after the event if nothing else. Wish us luck, this should be a blast! Mike.

Sounds great, Mike... can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring. Us folks in the peanut gallery will do our best to discuss amongst ourselves.

Called and talked to Randy yesterday evening and found out his dad had sold a black MPc Les Paul copy to some guy for a buddy up in Minnesota...but it ain't me.

Anyone remember any forum members here up this way? I know that I am basically the only active member up here as of recently.

Been a long day here with the in laws. Things are better and inproving but slow going. I hope to be able to check in on their PC sometime saturday afternoon. I wish I could see those two X910's and give them a try. Enjoy the day and Rock on Electra Style. Arthur aka mortarman120gang11c

Rundown of Sunday's events: there will be a comparison of all 12 MPC modules, there will be photo groupings of several models including a pair of x910's a grouping of 3 different Sunburst Corsairs, etc. There will be awards handed out and there will be the giveaway swag. Is there anything that the webwatchers want to see? We will try to handle requests.

EF2012 has ended and it was a great event. We had some speed problems with the webcast, and it had to be restarted a number of times, apologies to anyone who was trying to watch from home. Final count on guitars at the fest was approximately 85!!! Just a really overwhelming turnout. As usual, I spent too much time playing and talking, and didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but here are a few of the highlights I did catch (hopefully Rondo will post some more as he was much better about documenting the guitars there)

Image

Here's an interesting shot of three Corsairs, all with different logos on the Truss Rod Cover:

Image

And here is a nice picture of both Futura models side by side. We put the guitars back to back and found that these guitars are not exact mirror images of each other, there are a number of differences:
Image

There was an awesome lineup of giveaway items this year, four complete guitars, a mystery project from Iceman as well as two Electra stomp boxes and some never opened packages of speed knobs... the generosity of this Forum is SECOND TO NONE!!! McBrat drew the first pick, and after some contemplation chose the Pearl White X635 Bass Rondo selflessly donated:
Image

Randy's family is heavily into the Electra brand, and unbeknownst to me his Dad and 2 uncles are Forum members. We found out that his Nephew also has an Electra, so that's three generations of Electra collectors! Benn got 2nd pick and took this great little beat up Workingman that Ozark donated, what it lacked it beauty, it more than made up with its HOT pickups and playability:
Image

Rondo got the next pick and took the mystery donation from Iceman, he needs a MMK45 to complete a beautiful Champagne X135 he picked up recently, and we're all wondering what kind of other goodies will be connected to it when Ice ships it:
Image

Our lucky host had the next choice and took the nearly unplayed Vantage I donated:
Image

Randy's uncle Bruce (and Benn's twin) chose the resurrected X640 Bass that McBrat donated and affectionately calls 'Swampy', very nice!
Image

I had the next pick and took the Chorus box that Randy donated, and took and pack of knobs when nobody was looking!
Image

Randy's dad Tom is a real nice fella, and has decades of Electra knowledge under his belt, I hope he can find time to log in and post some of that experience here on the Forum. He had the last draw and took the Compressor stomp that Randy donated:
Image

Mick brought along some really great hardware pieces that I think are going to get added to the 2nd chance drawings, because of the relatively big turnout, there wasn't much left guys.

As for the Awards, this years 'Most Electras at Show' went to our generous host Randy with over 50 examples represented. The 'Farthest Travelled Electra' went to McB who came in from Iowa. Most of the guitars at the event were in pretty nice shape, and we had to really search for the 'Most Beat Electra', it was eventually discovered to be a rare pre-catalog 'Electric Bass' that Tom picked up at a guitar show for like $30 years and years ago, and yeah, if this was the most beat-up guitar there, you can just imagine how nice the overall line up was this year!
Image

It was a real toss up for 'Best in Show' this year, we finally narrowed it down to three guitars, one of which was Micks beautiful Super Professional. After all participants had said a few words about the entries we took a vote, with two guitars being tied at 3 votes each. After examining and playing them, Randy cast the deciding vote for a guitar I have brought to every ElectraFest so far, the Cherry Sunburst Endorser:
Image

A very close 2nd 'Honorable Mention' went to the guitar I voted for, this absolutely wonderful Custom Pro that has the name "Thelma" engraved into it's tailpiece. I picked up this guitar probably 5 different times over the weekend, just a really really great sounding guitar owned by Randy:
Image

Well there is your quick condensed recap of this years 'fest. I had a great time meeting all these members and swapping guitar stories, if you haven't already, think about attending a future ElectraFest, would love to see one on the East Coast next year. Cheers, Mike.

There is a link to more pictures in the Members Only section of the forum. I will try to post some more pics, but would like to see some more taken by McB and Randy's family. Another curious note that came out was that Randy's Uncle Bruce had one time done a swap with McB of an x145 for 3 modules. Years later they meet again at Electra Fest!

I'm gutted, fellas.... I clean forgot about the EF as we had visitors, and by the time I got through, it was all over!!

However, looks like everyone had a beauty weekend, and with 85 Electras there, why wouldn't you?!

Right.... There had better be swags of photos in the members section....

Thanks again to Randy for hosting the festivities. From what I was able to see when my connection was working it looks like we really missed out on a great time.

There was a signifcant weight difference between the X640N(GB) (Swampy) and the X635PW.
The Natural/Stained versions of the bass were Ash bodies, but the painted ones appear to be Maple.

Swampy 8.6 lbs.
X635PW 9.8 lbs.

though the difference felt like it was more holding both at the same time...
