I've been wanting a 2270 for quite a while, and patience has paid off in this latest addition to the family. The one in the 1972 catalog has a black pickguard, but I haven't ever seen another one since, they always seem to have a multi-ply white guard. This one seems to be original, although I haven't taken the guard off yet. Has some dings and play wear, probably would rate it a 7 out of ten, still at 6lbs 9 ozs, a very comfortable instrument to play. Has the shorter 'Gibby' 24.75" scale length, which I really like.

I can't identify the wood species, the grain looks too tight to be Maple or Ash, although it doesn't look like your classic Mahogany either. The hollowed out part is bigger than I thought it would be, and I do love a nice light instrument. The three bolt Neck Pickup sounds pretty decent, the whimpy single coil is bright and microphonic, but obviously original, so I'm not going to mess with it.

Pretty clean on the backside:

Not sure if this is the original output jack plate... can anyone confirm? Joe? Arthur?

This is one of the last Electra's on my Want-List, and worth the wait. Probably wont use it live because the pickups feedback. Overall I'm real happy with it, and if you get the chance to play one of these thinline copies, by all means do so, I think they're one of the many underrated models in the Electra line. Cheers, Mike.

    Very nice and a great score for certain. These are great players also as you have learned. I can't be certain on the input jack as I have never seen an original photo of one but I think they were the more standard Chrome type. Easy check is to romove screws and take a peep and see if it has other screw holes. Very nice addition to an already great collection. Congrats ans Salute.

I've looked at it closely, and I can't exactly say what is going on, it looks to be the same piece of wood to me, but the color variation is dramatic:

Definitely a lamination at the top where the headstock wing is, but the other one I'm not sure. Has a separate maple fretboard cap. This guitar has a slightly bigger profile than my 2238 or 2248 tele's, also has the zero-fret thing going on.

Any Forum Members with a 2270 should post a pic on this thread, please. I'd like to compare hardware and features. Thanks, Mike.
