Haven't we seen this from a forum member before? Sorry it looks like you have to get rid of another!

From what I have seen of prices on these, the starting price is low and the BIN is reasonable to low.

Shackleton, this is a pretty friendly forum. Instead of just making a blanket statement that a price given by a long time member of this forum is too high, why not ask how he came up with it. We could all learn a bit that way. Or where you just saying the price is too high for you? Its too high for me but I would jump on it if I had the money.

Workingman is correct, these are fairly rare models and the price asked is very reasonable for an example in this shape-I've sold two in the last couple of years in much worse shape for not much less than the starting bid, could have easily eclipsed that number in an advertised sale-unfortunately my fellow forumites are as cheap as I am  Relax Shackelton,we're a laid back group for the most part-no TGP type drama goin' on here :D

No....not cheap. Frugal - ok, bargain hunters - you bet! It might be tough for us Electra folk to part with money but this is a GREAT group when it comes to parting with advice and experience on these guitars. I think Shackleton knows this.

I might agree the price was high if there were a boatload of these out there like the MPC 300 series - but there just aren't that many of them. Howard Roberts, Wedge, maybe Maple Pros, X420 and of course the Derringers are all hard to find and will command a premium. I think the West model is pretty firmly in that category. Let's face it even a Workingman can get 300-350 these days (sometimes). We all know - they ain't making anymore SLM Electra's and I think we see fewer on the market now than we did say 3 years ago. Heck 3 years ago you could get an X330 in real nice shape any day of the week for under $400. Now at that price there will definitely be issues like gutted wiring, changed pickups or tuners, breaks etc... Good examples of ANY model are getting harder to find my friends.

It was not a statement It was a question should have been obvious from the question mark.

I just asked a question, which is different from questioning someones statement. I really don't how how just asking if a price was reasonable, was unreasonable?

I would love to have one and I think they are one of the coolest looking models, next would be the endorcer. You probably would never sell it but remember ebay is now taking 14% when you add the paypal fees, so im always thinking of what I would need to sell it for to at least break even and at $700 that comes to $798 not including shipping.

Please don't remind me. Ebay is good if you're a buyer - not so much as a seller these days.

Totally agree. Its like when you think you sold something for a good price and then the end of the month comes and your shocked at the ebay bill and the paypal fees has already come out when they paid. When I started there was no final value fee and no paypal you waited for a postal money order and shipped when you got that. Then the feedback was very important to both parties and the seller could leave negative feedback for a non paying buyer. Now the system is really protecting the buyer who can cancel their bid up to minutes of the auction end a there is really no punishment for not paying a won auction. I hate selling now. By the way next year will be my 15th as a ebay member.
