Where to begin?

I'm sure that some of you have noticed that our friend, Joe Cannon aka the ozarkcannon, hasn't posted in some time. The reason is that he is fighting stage four bone marrow cancer, already in an advanced state by the time it was discovered. He's undergoing chemotherapy. As you might well know, that's going to be a very tough fight for him.

I realize I don't post very often, but I should tell you that this forum is by far my favorite of the many I belong to. Why? The spirit. There are other forums with helpful members, some who become friends, but this one I special because... well, I'm sure I don't have to tell you why.

What can you do? Well, if you're a believer, pray for him. I've been doing so for a while now, as is my church. I do believe in the power of prayer... I've experienced it first-hand. You can also PM him through the Forum, or write him at ozarkcannon@clear.net.

I've been in a similar situation in the past, and I can tell you that responding to email can take more concentration and energy than you can believe. So he may not respond, or respond right away. But he needs to hear from us nonetheless. It's so easy to feel isolated, and set apart in that situation, I know. Plus, being that sick (stage four cancer) is bad enough, but the chemo will often back you feel like you're on a bad acid trip on top of it(yeah, I know... how do I know?lol). It can take all your energy just dragging your ass to the can throughout the day.

Am I right? Isn't this place a bit more than just guitars?

Thanks for reading this, y'all.

C.R.

Very sad news indeed. I will keep him in my prayers as well and try to stay in contact with him.

Awwwww, hell.... that's simply awful!! He was the mover and shaker who moved my Lady around the globe... one of life's true gentlemen.

I can only wish him all the best.....

Would it help him to have an in-person visit? I have some open travel time this month.

Good thoughts being directed Joe's way. Joe is one stand up guy and a great member of our forum.

Most definitely reaching out to Joe in prayer. He is a great man.

I'll be in STL Saturday. If anybody knows how I could help Joe, I'll stop by and see him.

If you do go and see him, Jack, would you pass on my regards, please?!

I haven't gotten a reply to my last couple of letters. I'll try and get a response.

Having been in that situation I can tell you that responding to mail can be a serious challenge. It has nothing to do with a lack of caring... just a lack of clarity and energy in my case.

The one thing we can do is pray, if you're so disposed...

When I offered to stop by and visit, he said he was out of the hospital and spending time with family.

If anybody hears that he needs some help, I'll make the drive from Columbus to do it. But he seemed okay in the email .

Hey friends.

I heard from Joe today. He says he's been in and out of the hospital, as well as dealing with nausea, and the many other side effects of chemotherapy. IOW, he's hangin' in there. But he is seriously ill, guys. He has a major battle on his hands.

Once again, from my own experience, I can't tell you how powerful it is to hear from friends. Cancer/chemo is a lonely ass place to be in. I ask all of you here who know Joe to write him regularly (ozarkcannon@clear.net), and pray for him... there is One who can!

More as I hear it...

C.R.
