I have that exact bass, except it's branded "Matao" and still has the original bridge. I don't like the pickups much, but it plays nice. How do you find the pickups in yours? What are you playing it through?

Nice Subarus as well! I have a '97 Outback, but I suppose that doesn't inspire as much nostalgia!

I just got it, but haven't had much time to play with it yet. my last bass, I played through my home stereo with Cerwin-Vegas. actually worked okay. I mostly just play around. This time around, I just have a small practive amp, but since the wife doesn't know I have this bass yet, I've been practicing (when I get a chance) unplugged :)

I'm getting tired of putting it back in it's hiding place behind the couch

keep it around for a while at first without strings, or better yet without pickguard or pups- guitars look so homely without strings. Then string it up and voila, another lost soul brought back to life, and a bargain at that!

I've made sure to show my wife some of my project guitars when they arrived, so she doesn't panic at seeming it for the first time all finished and think I've broken the bank.
