The Story of Darin's X950 (shown above)

In 1993 a friend of mine, Doug, was playing what I now know is an Electra Vulcan X940, in a local band.  When I asked him what it was, he told me that a former guitar student of his, Tom Presley, had given it to him.  He claimed that it was the prototype.

Some time later Doug had fallen on hard times and was forced to move back to Missouri.  He had pawned his guitar and before he left he handed me the ticket and said I could have it. I, of course, promptly redeemed the ticket and presented the instrument to him as a going away gift.  He left a very happy man.

Some months later he returned and presented me with a Vulcan X950 in mint condition. He said that it had been in Tom's closet all these years and no one had touched it.  I was ecstatic.  The guitar I had redeemed from the pawnshop was beautiful but it was hardly in the kind of shape this one was. Doug laughed and said that he had been forced to use his as a weapon a time or two in the bars he played in.

Anyway, it's been mine for ten years now. The only other owner was Tom Presley, the original product manager of Saint Louis Music.  Its the coolest thing I own.
