between the Uncle Matt Electras, and the pre-UncleMatt ones?

There's a twin to my Jazz copy on eBay right now, and it's an early one....

about the only diff I can see in the pics, is that the finish on the older one is not blended nearly as much. mine seems to flow better.

one other difference, is that the older one has the truss rod adjustment at the head, with a metal cover, where as mine ('81) has the adjuster on the body side of the neck.

It's a really hard question, and it's not always easy telling which were which, either. I've found some of the pre-Matt Electras (like my Telerez) to be great. From what I can see the early Electras were made by the same maker who made Apollos, which SLM also sold. Others aren't so great, like the early Explorer I have- it's got the same early Electra logo but everything about it is just not the same- it isn't one of the Pacific Electras I don't think, but, yeah.

I think you should buy it and tell us how it is!

it is tempting. the guy with the bid now, I've seen on other Electra Auctions in the past. Still tempting though...

I would like to see if the feel of the neck is the same. I've been checking out some other basses in a couple of shops, and nothing beats the Longnecker neck. it's got a high gloss finish on it, like a Geddy Lee Jazz....
