 Post subject: Outlaw 740 oddity

The bridge pickup on mine has the screw-head polepieces facing the nut instead of the bridge....I flipped the pickup around to match pictures I'd seen of other Outlaws, and other humbucker guitars in general, but the pickup is mounted to the bracket in such a way that the only way to achieve the correct angle for both bobbins to be level beneath the strings is with the pickup 'reversed' as I originally found it. Sounds great, but it's probably always in phase with the neck. Either this was intentional or a factory mistake. THe pickup appears original, though the frame is missing.

cool! so with one pickup reversed, the neck and bridge are permanently out of phase- that was a very new and hip thing to be doing in the 70's, and I bet it was on purpose.
