Hi,

Does anyone have any idea about the number of 'rare' Westone's produced?
How many Rails, Super Headless et cetera were made?

Grtz,
Pntr

No idea here, but just by watching ebay you can see Rail basses aren't particularly rare, i see one probalby every month or more, sometimes several at once. Quantum basses are a little more unusual, and Super headlesses are quite scarce, one or two a year at most.

There are quite a few Westones in the UK, set your ebay searches to cover all countries, you'll see more of them.

Yes I agree with X189Player's post, There has also been some oddities as well, Also some overall UK/US differences in the stock that was available.

UK has more earlier Westone's(Gold Westone Logo on headstock) 1980 to 1982 (Very rare in US)

US has more earlier Electra Westone's (Very rare in UK)

This is a UK oddity I found on sale on Ebay, even the Westone logo is different, I wish I had bought it now, but some you just have to let go.

I also seem to remember you (X189Player) had a rare Pink Rail Guitar, any chance of some pictures.

I gather you have compared you rail guitar to the other one in existence.

The rails on yours look slightly thinner and the tuning section of the body is different, and yours is not a bolt on.

Yours might well be a prototype.

I wonder who owns this one

I also noticed a W on the pickup of this one, which would put it in a later Westone category.

I never noticed the differences- but you're right, the black one looks very much like a Rail Bass, down to 'the Rail' silscreened in red on it.

The pink one is very crude in many respects, the bridge saddles are wooden and look almost handmade. I'm really cautious about using the 'P' word, but it does look like a prototype.

I keep on the lookout for another Rail Guitar of any type, but haven't seen another one yet.

The pink one is the weirdest guitar EVER!

And I really never knew that they made Rail guitars... the pink one definitely is a better design, imho.
