So I have a Gemini II in the mail on its way to me and I can hardly wait.

The seller did not have much info on it but it looked like a 2 pickup Aria SB. The electronics appear to be passive and the seller says the neck is a bolt on. He also advertised it as an Anniversary edition and one of the last basses Westone made for St. Louis Music.

Does anyone have more info on this bass? Links to any we pages perhaps? I don't have pics yet, sorry.

Thanks!

Is this a Westone model? There were several runs of SLM anniversary editions. I forget what the increments are but one was produced during the Japanese era, the other during or after the production shift to Korea.

Was this an eBay listing?

I have never heard of a Westone Gemini II, the name would suggest there must be a Gemini I as well, that's if it follows normal Westone model naming conventions.

Do you have any pics yet?

I don't know how to post pictures to the posts and I do not have a place to host pics. Can I email these to someone who can post them to the forum?

Try this web site it's free Image Shack (clicking opens a new page)

Make a note of where your pictures are on your PC, then just click the browse button on the Image Shack page, find your pictures and click the upload button (one picture at a time), once you have done this there should be a series of links designed for forums, copy and paste these links into your post, the best thing to do at this stage is to experiment with the links in your post using the preview button instead of the submit button until you get your post just right.

Another ratholer was kind enough to host the only picture I have of this bass:

Image

To give a brief description, this is a Matsumoku Made Westone commemorating the 65th anniversary of St. Louis Music. As such, it was made in 1987 as per the typical SN on the neck plate (which also read Matsumoku).

I have done some research that indicates this was the last Matsumoku/Westone made for SLM. The bass is a real puncher. It has a split humbucker in front and a double in the back. 3-way toggle, volume, volume, tone. The body is one piece of ash stained oak brown and the neck is 3 piece maple with rosewood board and nice wide string spacing. The body top is recessed toward the bottom strings to allow for some real digging in when popping.

This was billed as a Gemini when I bought it but my research leads me to believe that is was modeled as Genesis.

Any additional info about this bass is very much appreciated.

matsumokuman out (for now)

It is what I call the 'Pantera' shape and it also seems to be a combination of different Westone models when it comes to the hardware, it looks a bit like the electrics and pickups from the 'Quantum' and 'Super headless RC' basses and also the cutout for popping is a feature of the 'Super Headless', yet it has the headstock of a 'Thunder' bass.

It's certainly an unusual Westone.

I like it. :)
