I was given an Electra X-250 a few weeks back. The guitar as near as I can tell is in near perfect condition. The only real difference I can see from the pictures I have viewed online of the X-250 model Electra guitar is that the one I have has chrome pickup covers, instead of open black humbuckers. Is this a special edition? This guitar has a "0" for the first character of the serial number. I understand this to mean it is an 1980 produced guitar.

The three micro-switches below the volume and tone knobs? In order from the neck end to the tail, what are they supposed to do? The information that I have found to this point says that this was wired with a coil tap switch and an active EQ for the treble/bass controls. By "active", does this mean that it takes a battery like other active pickup guitars? Or does this simply mean that it has tone control knobs and the treble/bass are adjustable? I am new to Electra's so please excuse my ignorance.

As far as playability, I really like this guitar a lot. It is a smokin' hot lead guitar. I have several amps and other guitars. This one is becoming one of my favorites very quickly.

I appreciate any help with information that I can get. Thanks in advance.

Mojo -

I've never had one of these, so I could be wrong, but I believe the switches are 1) in/out of phase 2) coil tap 3) active EQ. The battery for the EQ is probably under the larger panel in the back.

You've probably figured this out by now, but I thought your post deserved a response. I hope you're enjoying the axe!
