Hi,
I just bought a X610 bass and I have a question.
Every pic that I have seen of these basses they have a 5 way tone selector dial. Well the bass I bought has a three way toggle switch. Also the back plate (pickguard) does not have 1 thru 5 printed on it. Did they make these with just a 3-way toggle ?

I did not even know about these basses until I saw one for saw on our local want-ads. About 3 years ago I sold all my bass equipment and gave up playing but I've been missing playing bass so when I saw this bass with a Peavey TNT100 I decided to check it out especially for the cheap price the guy was asking.
The Electra is in great shape especially for a 30+ year old bass. It has two MPC modules, the Phase Shifter and Power Overdrive and they both work.
I'm really digging this bass ! I used to buy and sell high dollar basses and this bass really stands up well to them.
I do need to get a set up done on it. The one problem that I've run into is the neck has a slight bow and the truss rod is won't turn clockwise anymore to straighten it. Do you turn these clockwise to straighten the neck ?

nice bass you have there.... is it one from eBay? I've been tracking sale prices of all the MPC stuff. I have all the info from eBay, but if you got yours from a different place, I'd like to have the info for my list (if you don't mind of course)....

a common mod on the MPCs was to replace the 5 way with the toggle switch...

No on E-Bay, I got it from our local want-ads from our University newsgroups. I bought it from a guy who said it was his father's who recently passed away.
Bought the bass and a Peavey TNT100 combo amp for $250.00. The amp nothing special but I figured the bass it-self was probably worth $250.00.

I guess the switch mod was done because it would be much easier to hit a toggle switch in the middle of a song than trying to turn a dial switch.

Also, for some reason the are three holes in the pickguard between the switches and dials. No idea why they are there but I think I'm going to get a replacement pickguard from Jeannie Pickguard's who made one for someone else's Electra bass.

Do you have list of sale prices for this bass and the modules ? I'd be interested in seeing that if you don't mind.
Also, Did all the MPC instruments use the same modules ? Would the same module would work in both a bass or guitar ?

yes, all MPC modules work in both bass and guitar, but some don't do much for a bass.....

modules normally go on eBay for $30 - $125 depending on the rarity. The 2 you have are what came with the instruments new, so are the most common....

does yours say x-610 on the foil sticker on the back of the headstock? color wise, it looks like more of a x-620 tobacco burst, instead of the charcoal burst...

hi guys...

say mcbrat... there was an eboink auction for an outlaw bass ... oh maybe a year and a half or two years ago (if memory serves me correctly) with an a bid and sale of $1500... and that was followed right away by the sale of another for about 850-890 or something like that.... i was astonished at the price... i don't know if they were legit sales or if they were even completed, but i do remember the auctions taking place... (wish i had saved them)

anyways... thought you might be interested in this little tidbit of info

You're right Mcbrat, it's a X-620. Don't know where I got the X-610 from.

I'm really liking this bass. Very solid but Lighter than I thought it would be. The phaser's really cool too. The only problems are it has a slight bow (strings too high) and the truss rod will not tighten any more and some noisy pots.

FYI: Another one just sold on E-Bay for 500.00
