Here's the story: Well, I've had this for a little while. Went gitter shopping with a friend, he was looking for a tele, but he was pretty dead set on a real deal Fender (good lord). Well the last place we went, which happened to be where I got my X 960 (pics soon) they had this tele. 99.00 I couldn't believe it. I seriously tried to talk my friend into buying it first, when he said no I picked it up without playing it and bought it.

thought I got a better pic of the serial. I think it starts 104XX so maybe 71?
I put a ding in it and it burns my soul :x . I didn't have a case so I would always keep it in my closet. One day I threw a garrison bag on a shelf for the first time and the shelf fell on it. Turns out the shelf wasn't connected to the wall!

Any way plays great. Humbucker is real beefy and the lipstick is shinin' man, real bright. Just swapped out the pots and set her up. Could use some fret work in the near future. Well, there you go.

Lovely! Those Electra teles really are nice. You've got the date in the right ballpark (early 70's) but serial numbers back then didn't follow the first digit = year pattern (not that we know of anyway).

Glad your pickups are in good shape- that lipstick single coil is really unusual, it looks much like any other tele bridge pickup, until you go to replace it (I had one that was dead). Turns out it's smaller than any other pickup, and about twice as tall- so nothing else fits as a replacement!

Congratulations, those are real keepers. And don't beat yourself up over the ding- what's important is that it has a good home now, and you have a great guitar!

Sorry, No he never chased down that feindor. The ones he wanted were all to expensive. Hmmmm, He ended up getting an 80's Gibson, I forget what it was it was pretty cool. It had a graphite neck or something. Some type of composite. He's a bass player and he ended up selling it and getting a Acoustic to piddle on. No stories of a jealous rage or anything. I think in the end he was glad I got instead of him. He knows I'm a big electra fan, but I tried to make him a believer.

Well, one of the four factories we know were making Electras in those days (Fujigen)went on to build for Fender Japan... I'm pretty sure some of the Electra teles are proto-MIJ Fender. Still have to do some research to prove it though.

those are probably not the original knobs, I believe they had black 'witch hat' style knobs originally. Whatever- I'm fond of the traditional tele knobs like yours has.

Interesting, On the fender theory.

Didn't even look twice at the knobs. I'll peak at a few pics.

The yellow Tele arrived yesterday. Wow, what a great monster! The neck is pretty small, have to get used to it. But great vintage sound. Much better than those F Tele's..............
