I suppose that's to be expected for a first auction attempt. And maybe someone will buy it!

I paid like $400 for mine which had a factory (SLM shops) broken headstock repair. It's in lovely shape except the back of the headstock is painted black. So I suppose you could extrapolate upwards to what a pristine one would run.

But he's right, these only come around on ebay once or twice a year. THe rarest? I'm skeptical. One of the oddball PCM Electras would take that prize. But I wonder what SLM Electra really is rarest? It could be the X910, or the Howard Roberts, or the premium Rock Strad...

I'd say the X910 is rarest by a nose. That one's a beauty, I'd buy it if I had the dough lying around!

What a fantastic guitar!

But I go along with you all - a little too steep. Electras don't normally go for more than their gibson counterparts. I can buy used explorers for less than that. I had a gibson and could not get used to the way it seems to push the neck forward when you play it. It is a very cool looking guitar but uncomfortable to play. I am sure you could get used to it. I am speaking of the Gibson - never had my hands on the Electra.

But also in the guys defense - you almost never see them and certainly never see them in this condition. If you are a collector and you gotta have it - maybe you will pay that for it. I am a collector on a budget!

Either way, if it comes back as a "real" auction - starting at a lower price and working its way up - it will sell pretty high.

What a fine looking guitar!

Wow! I was totally wrong. Someone is going for it. I think it is great, but too rich for me right now. I may consider the other one and restoring it - but I bet it goes pretty high too after this one.

Yep, two bidders, I'm shocked and we all know how this works. Someone pays a silly price on eBay and now they're all "worth" that  Play one before you plunk down the big bucks Thorny. I did a refin/partial restore on X's and though I never played it, I thought it was a little narrow at the nut like the Electra hollow bodies. I need the Les Paul nut for my hands.
