Hi, everyone ! I'm new here, this is my first post. Been around Electras since the mid-70's, though. Some of my past bands' members played them. I remember when the first modules came out ( '77 or '78 ), and man, everyone wanted one !
I'm a semi-pro guitar repairman, doing it mainly out of love for the instrument
At this time, I have an X189JB Phoenix on my bench. I have to gut the electronics to make a repair on the body. It's been modified a bit, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance (or directions to same) in identifying the correct wiring for this guitar.
It appears to have the OEM pickups: Neck 2-coil has 2 conductors and shield connected. Center single has 2 conductors, no shield, connected to the center control ( which I assume is a tone pot ). Bridge 2coil has 3 conductors and a shield connected. There is a 3-position pickup switch, and all three pots have pull-on, push off switches.

Any help will be thankfully accepted by myself, and the player who owns this old RockDawg !

Glad to help. The original SLM diagram is a little hard to read, and I've put together some draft versions of a diagram that clarifies this excellent wiring schematic. I'll have better versions posted soon (when the flood waters recede)

Is there any way that I could get a copy of that wiring diagram that you got last year?

Since we're on the topic of wire diagrams. My friend has his pops old omega. It's been rewired, is there a diagram for the 5 way rotary, master volume/tone, and two switch set up. Like this http://rivercityamps.com/electra/x240.php what are the switches for? coil taps?

I believe the 5-way should be the same as the 5-way on the MPC's:

I believe they are independant coil taps (a very handy feature btw). The catalog is a little unclear, calling them 'rhythm switch' and 'lead color switch' whcih does make it clear that they're specific to each pickup.

This guitar does also have phase reverse, but that's part of the 5-way, in combinations with series & parallel options.
