hi, i recently bought a x270, and am unfamiliar with the switches, and there purposes. also, the input is giving me trouble, any solutions?

usually when an input jack fails, it means replacing the jack. Those things are pressed together in layers, and after years tehy loosen up and get intemittent.

sometimes it means a bad solder joint connecting to the jack, but not if it's factory original- that shouldn't happen unless some amateur rewires and makes a bad solder joint.


The X270 had powered EQ- so one of those switches, probably the bottom one, turns the powered EQ on, which converts the normal passive tone control into a powered treble/bass boost.

The other two switches are probably coil tap and phase reverse. Coil tap you'll recognize because it cuts the humbuckers down to a single coila nd makes them all thin and trebly. The phase reverse makes it even thinner and quacky, but only when both pickups are selected.

by the bottom one do you mean the far right one if your playing the guitar? thank you very much for your information, also, this model looks the same as the x960, but without the mpc circuit; is that true? i am not dissapointed without the circuit, as i have many different pedals for tweaking. i love powerful pickups. i have never seen 2 nine volt circuitry though. i am hooked. these guitars are amazing.

yep, this is the non-MPC version of this body style.

and yes, bottom = right as you play (assuming you're right-handed)

powered EQ is actually an extremely powerful way to create tone. It does take someone willing to use their ears, as it's up to you to decide what is right for a given situation. Not like today's plug-n-play!

I agree with the jack, just replace it. No biggie. I had two fail in my guitars and itsreal annoying.

thank you, i bought a new input jack, and its amazing, restrung it with d.a 11's (they didnt have 12s or 13s) and this beast is sounding sweet. almost perfect condition with a few nicks, but hey, 27 years is a long time for a guitar not to be nicked. at my rehearsal space ive got a 82 peavey t-15, a les paul standard, a esp ltd with emg actives, a fender strat, and none of them compare to the sweet sounds this guitar emits. the sustain alone is amazing, let alone all the tone configurations i can tweek. this guitars are diamonds.
