About a week and a half ago I purchased a Tele copy that needed parts for 50 bucks on a local Craigslist. As luck would have it, I had all the parts, put her together, quick cleanup, setup and fret polish and I advertised this great looking, nice playing Springstien wanna be. The response was pretty impressive. The most persistent, was a guy with what he said was a Squier strat to trade. He came over and it was actually a Fender Mexican Strat, possibly a parts guitar, but it played great so I made the trade. He hated the way it looked...I fell in love with the way it looked. You be the judge :-)

Not so bad an acquisition for 50 bucks, no?

What's that quote, "Love is in the eye of the beholder"? I probably got it wrong :P

Nice catch though.

I really like it, I pick it up and I start playing like Hendrix and talking like Austin Powers  It really is a great player, I'm thinking of doing a major upgrade on the guts. CTS pots, CRL switch, Truetone Pickups, etc. I have to decide if it's a keeper before I make the leap.

It's been a great week of acquiring guitars for me. Yesterday I stumbled on a local free board and snagged a Seagull acoustic guitar for free. It had 2 cracks in the top, the back was coming off, missing 4 bridge pins (he was using golf tees :-))it was missing 3 buttons off of it's Grover Rotomatic tuners :o it needed a fret level and a deep clean...all done and it plays frigging great and sounds beautiful. All this for 7 bucks of parts and some strings. For anyone who wants to do their own fret leveling on the cheap, I HIGHLY recommend The Thomas-Ginex Fret leveling kit. About 20 bucks on eBay, easy, and suprisingly good results. Here's the Seagull, she ain't pretty but she plays and sounds amazing for 7 bucks of guitar!!!
