Hi all; I'm new here but no stranger to Uncle Matt! I have 2 Westones and a Vantage, all working guitars, too - no wall art here! - and have narrowed down my wish list to A Westone 1440 Anniversary, a Spectrum series II 6112 or a Vantage AV310 and have recently realised that Electra made the Westone models before Westone did. My question is, what are the chances of seeing an Electra down here in New Zealand? I'm coming up 50 and have been playing here and in Australia for 30+ years and have never seen one.
Uncle Matts in general seem to be in very, very short supply in NZ and only a little better in Australia - my VA 900 was bought new; by me!, in Melbourne in 1980 - and there are one or two Aussies on the forums, both the Mat and westone ones so I'm picking that not a lot ended up down here.
So, can I expect to find an Electra here, given a great gob of good luck?!

Probably not, unless someone brought one from the US. Electra was a brand name used by Saint Louis Music and Pacific Coast Music, and they only sold guitars within the US (as far as I've ever heard).

However, you have friends here, maybe we can help ship something to you?

Thanks, man! That'll be our little secret; the wife doesn't need to know that there are folk willing to ship me more guitars than I've already got! My target of choice, depending on finances at the time, would be the Corsair 1440 Anniversary, or the Electra equivalent; I've developed a weakness for this particular hair guitar - I don't know why!! I've never even seen one!! However I can justify it by telling myself, and her indoors!, that it has a pup configuration that I don't have - H/S/H!!! :D

Hmm... there's not an Electra that's really equivalent to the Westone Corsair, none of them had the 'flat strat' body or the pointy headstock like that. But I do see Corsairs on ebay not infrequently.

However, the Electras do have the H-S-H configuration, Tom Presley really was the one who worked it up and it appeared in the Electra Phoenixes as well as the pointy electras- Dynasty, Dimension IV, and Monark.

Hi corsair

Glad to see you here at the electra site.

You would love a X189 X199 for your HSH.
