Hi, my name is Brooks and I'm new to the forum. I have a black long necker bass (a 2273, which I now know thanks to this awesome site!) that I bought at a goodwill of all places about 7 years ago. I've always been fond of this bass and I knew very little about it until I came across this site. The serial number begins with a "0" so I believe it is a 1980 model. As you can see my headstock is different from the one pictured on the site.

My question is this: does anyone know where I can find replacement tailpiece and pickup covers? I had always wondered what the extra screw holes on my bass were for and when I saw the pics on this site I realized what I was missing. I searched through the forums here and I didn't find a thread about this, I apologize if I missed one and this has already been answered.

Thanks for setting this site up, now you've got me wanting more electras! -B

awesome! actually, of all of the Electra Longnecker's, the peace sign logo ones seem to have the best necks build quality wise.

you also are in luck. I had one missing the same parts you are, and I just bought a set off eBay of new replacement parts (without the "F") and the holes lined up perfectly.....

That's interesting, are the ones you bought off of ebay new? Are they still manufacturing these parts? Or are they off of an older fender jazz? I would really love to restore this bass to its full original glory.

yes, they were just new covers without the "F" logo...like these....

http://cgi.ebay.com/Bridge-Cover-for-J- ... dZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Pi ... dZViewItem

some list versions for old Fenders, or current American or MIM ones. just need to verify hole spacing....

most of the time, they were just removed and discarded as they were in the way of most players.

there's no markings on them to signify if it's Electra or not. So the only way to go truly original would be to wait until you find someone parting an Electra out...

Yeah I'm thinking if I wait for someone parting out a real electra I'll be waiting a veeerrry long time. I think I will go for these that you've pointed out. Now that I know what to look for it should be easy. Thanks! :)

In many cases these parts are very close matches for fender stuff. You may be surprised to find it's pretty darn close.
