I have an electra x810 with the tree of life inlay on the frets. Is this guitar worth anything? i have photos of it but didnt see a way to upload them here.

Oh my yes. Besides being beautiful, this kind of inlay work was done on the best top-of-the-line models which received a lot of care and attention anyway.

There are folks here who are into the hollowbodies who can give you a better idea of vaue and rarity. This is an MPC guitar also? A panel for effects modules in the back? Wow!

Yes, it has 2 modules in the back, Phase Shifter and Power Overdrive.
It plays really nice. It was my dads and he gave it to me. When I was younger I always wanted it, but was only allowed to play it when he was with me. Now that I am grown up, I am not really into playing guitar so it has more sentimental value than anything.

Well, it's a superb instrument, well worthy of the historical and sentimental value it carries.

Some people would say 'if you don't play it, sell it to someone who will' but I disagree. musical instruments are powerful to carry memories of important people who played them for us. And because you care for it and preserve it, it will live on to future generations. Who knows, maybe one of your grandkids will someday become a brilliant musician, then the sentimental value plus the fantastic playability of it will be extra fantastic.

I would say for sure, especially if you're storing it in its case most of the time, to go to a quality guitar store- one that carries Martins and All that stuff- and invest in a humidity gauge and humidifier. Depending where you live and what kind of air conditioning and heat you have, you may be subjecting it to big humidity changes throughout the seasons. Ironically enough, guitars that are stored for safe keeping are most vulnerable because they don't get out much to equalize. You really want to avoid not looking at it for years with no humidity control and then opening it up to discover a big crack in the top.

I'm not trying to be alarmist, and a high quality instrument like this isn't super-vulnerable as guitars go, but like most things, if you pay a little attention to risk you can avoid problems but if you ignore it then something might come back to bite you later on.

If you're not gonna play it, display it! Hang it on the wall.
In my opinion the 810 is the most elegant and beautiful of all the Electra models. But don't sell it. Unless you are really down and out, it's worth way more than the $600 or $700 dollars you'ld get for it. It will only become more rare and valuable.
Plus, I knew a guy who started learning guitar at age 60 and now is addicted to playing. So if you ever change your mind and start playing again you'll have an excellent instrument.

Yeah, what he said. In the nicest possible way, Electra brand guitars are so consistently undervalued that even models like this sell for less than they would with most other brand names (like, what if it said 'Gibson' on the headstock?) There may come a day when that changes, but it hasn't happened yet.

Which is all good news for collectors and players right now, who want to appreciate these for the fine instruments they are, but not so good for the dealer who wants to make a buck.

Nicely said JY and X! These guitars are serious sleepers and you won't find a guitar of this caliber today for under 3 grand, REALLY. People have started to wake up to Electras, as the comprable big names hit the stratosphere...expect these beauties to jump in value too. 10 years ago these guitars were lucky to fetch 300 bucks, many sold for a lot less. Now prime examples are closing in on $1000.00. Take it from a guy who has watched these trends for a LOT of years, don't sell this right now unless you have to...and if that's the case, eBay it and start around $800.00 IMHO.
