Hey there :)
I'm new here but not new to Electra guitars. My first "Real" guitar was a Phoenix (not sure the mod #) but I bought it new in early '84. Serial is 3020123.

It was black graphite. But it turned green. So I painted it arctic white. It's all original except the bridge pup and bar. I'm looking for a MMK45 with coil split.

I do have the back cover. I just don't have it on as I Just got her back together and was still setting her up

Anyways. Enjoy

Nice X165! Or so I'd guess the model to be. Always good to hear of an original owner still happy. The serial number makes it 03/83 which makes sense for an 84 sale. I remember that graphite color, it really was black in the showroom, but nowdays they're all olive green. NIce refinishing job, btw! And check your PM's. :)

Either a 165 or 160. I'm not up on them enough to know the subtle differences. I never knew there was a model (other than Phoenix) till I found your site.LOL

I always did say that that was the best quality guitar I ever had. until recently. But now there's so much history with me and it that It has a mystique about it I can't put my finger on.

One thing is the neck. It is perfect for my hand. From the radius to the backshape it's just what fits me like a glove

I recently acqured an early Kramer focus that was built in the Matsumoku plant too. It wasn't until I refin'd the Phoenix and started playing it again that I realized why the Kramer felt so right. It's because it's the same neck!!! If I were to close my eyes and you were to hand me one of the 2 guitars, judging from the necks alone, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Here's a pic of it.

Notice the distance from the nut to the low E tuner. It's the same as my Electra and is further than say a standard Strat would be. Kind of an odd but I've only seen this on my Electra before now.
