May have to upgrade from my Roland GP-8!

I was thinking about getting the GT-8 that BOSS came out with last year;

Just out from Roland BOSS:

Boss GT-10 Effects Processor -

http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetai ... deo_hd.flv

Watch the video - about 3/4 through it -

Johnny DeMarco is playing one of the new Breedlove electrics starting at the Guitar Soloist cut!

Thanks,

It's the COSM engine, same as in the Clapton and other emulator pedals. Very interesting interface they've got going, I was wondering how they would start unlocking that thing for user control.

I don't care for it myself to be honest, I'm usually farther off in a clean / blues sound range. To my mind that thing sounds like solid state amps, modern and vintage metal, and it does seem to do that side of things well. Their 'background guitar' with an exaggerated acoustic drenched in chorus was as close to non-high gain as the demo got. If the controls are that intuitive, I'd like to see a clip of a country player dialing in how much delay he wants, and hear it happening.

Likewise they didn't show it producing anything like a tube sound at all. Those of us who are into tube amps and clean sound say modelers have a sort of 'in the box' sound that's recognizable, and that thing has it. But then again, I think it's because those sounds are being used in modern rock music, so it's being shown making those. It's just a style thing.

But I'm not knocking it, just commenting on how narrow a style that demo was marketing to. I find the COSM-based Clapton pedal to be very useful (in part becaue I don't play like Clapton) and I bet that one is too.

Myself, I've been toying with the idea of a guitar amp with no volume knob. Maybe no tone knob too. Effects are like that- ya go in swings, a lot or a little.

I agree; even though I have had the GP-8 for years I only utilize just a few of the effects; I like a clean and bluesy sound as well, with a lot of tone; mostly I utilize the sustain features and some chorus effects.

If I purchased something newer I would explore all the new possibilities and options; however reality would set in at gig time and I would probably use those effects that I have always relied on;

I use the GP-8 with the FC-100 pedals and the EV-5 Expression Pedal.

Just thought I would share this early notification from BOSS about the new GT-10 - one of their many new toys for the professional and aspiring musicians out there.

Could be an asset to any current or studio musician, as well as for writing and developing some colorful riffs.

Thanks again,
