$50 is quite a surprisingly low price. In general these early hollowbodies aren't priced too high- couple hundred is the most I've seen- but then again, the sunburst color isn't as common as red or green.

Is this a guitar you're looking for? Most people will be looking in this section expecting someone is looking to buy what is listed here. If you want to sell, or just get more information, you may have better luck in the 'for sale' or 'general dicsussion' sections.

And you have no doubt already read this post on pricing guitars: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electrafor ... php?t=3313

I would suggest you do any repairs you can see to the binding, using Duco cement. As much of hte binding as you can preserve is great, it's harder to match with modern unfaded binding material.

I've used tea to stain the binding material from Stew Mac. I tried using my 'navy coffee' and it turned WAY to dark/amber. Wonder what that stuff does to my stomach? Anyway, just leave it in strong tea [or maybe weak coffee?] overnight. The acid in the coffee is what *I* think makes it get so dark, maybe less time in the brew? anyway..

$50 is a DIRT cheap price for the 2228!
Ain't I lucky?
