Hi all. I currently have a 81 Endorser X935. I am thinking I might want another one and have been looking around to see if anyone has one for sale. I love mine and it is in good shape, but some of the part on it (saddle and bridge) aren't the original parts the guitar came with when I bought it. I guess I would be interested in buying one in good shape to pay or buying one in not so good of shape for parts. If anyone might be able to help out. Please let me know. Thank all. Tom.

Are you sure your Endorser is from '81? I've only seen them from 1983, specifically from May (305xxxx) to September (309xxxx) of 1983. What's the serial number? Any Photos?

Someday we'll get all the Endorsers listed on a serial number registry, after that we can work on world peace, or some way of harnessing Plate Tectonics to solve the worlds energy needs... but first things first!

Just thought I would point out, there is a black one on the 'bay currently http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-SET-NECK-ELECTRA-WITH-GIBSON-GIG-BAG_W0QQitemZ300211200033QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300211200033 Also, at some point I would like to at least try an endorser, so if anyone is looking to trade or get rid of their endorser, please keep me in mind :).

i too believe there was only one year of the 935 proendorser and that they were only available in cherry sunburst....

it seems to be a popular misconception that the black/black burst guitars of this same shape were proendorsers as well... such is not the case... the black/black burst guitars are the restyled Omegas (or a 2242 black rock if it is a bolt neck) that hit the market at the beginning of '81 as can be seen in the '81 price list

at least... that is how i read it :-?

Oh, there are 'Blackburst' Endorsers... pictures to come!! Basically, I can't say if SLM marketed them as Endorsers, but I just nabbed one off the bay, and it is VERY similar to my Cherry Sunbursts:

I) scooped out heel
II) push/pull coiltap and phase
III) tiny dot fret markers (that was the one visual cue, I don't think any other Electras have such understated fret markers)
IV) Stained Rosewood fretboard (faux ebony look)
V) Tuners have no markings on them
VI) Serial number ONE AWAY from my thin flame Pro Endorser!!

I am going to try to photo document it this weekend and (if X189 will let me post them) show everybody the eerie similarities of these Guitars.

Documentation is sketchy however, as price lists and catalogs almost invariable only show the Cherry Sunburst, further confused by the practice of using this same body shape for like 10 different guitars! But I will try my best to show that this is a blackburst Endorser. Cheers, Mike.

Oreo, I don't think the Guitar you supplied a eBay link for is a Black Endorser..:

I) no scooped heel
II) big fret dots
III) plastic nut
IV) Peace Sign logo
can't tell (no description to speak of!) if it has push/pull tone pots

I know that I'm splitting hairs here, but again, when you've got ten different models using the same shape we have to get down to specifics. Again, I hope to post pics of the blackburst this weekend.

Hrm, completely my bad. I never realized any such variety existed within the Omega line; I simply paired up the unique body with the wave headstock and filed it away as "endorser". I wouldn't say you're splitting hairs at all, I just needed some educating. To be honest, I'd never REALLY looked at that pricelist before, and I don't really have any interest in the Omega line. Now that someone has pointed out the difference, I see clearly what the two of you are talking about. As far as it being a common misconception, looking at the x420 it was a very easy (albeit incorrect) step of logical deduction to make.

That aside, really looking forward to seeing the pics of your new axe, P.E.!
