I was trying to date my guitar by serial # 10001 . I know it is a burgundy pro, but what year? It has the bell shaped cover on the head stock. Could this be the first guitar of this line?

It certainly could be. That's a wonderfully notable serial number.

Burgundy Pros came out in the 70's and I'd look to see if the details on yours match early or late versions.

Who was it studying Burgundy Pros around here? somebody was.

thanks, I am going to get some pics up soon. I love this guitars sound, it is strong and resonant , if it is a collectors item it will become a family heirloom.

It is safe to say that your Burgundy Pro is the equal of many Gibsons and Epiphones of the time. Right now their book value is probably as low as they'll ever be, which is poor for the dealer but great for the honest musician who wants a great value. As a musical instrument it will be excellent.

And that's a great tribute to a family hierloom- that somebody had good taste way back when!

Unfortunately, I've seen too many cases where he family trotted granddad's old precious guitar tot eh music store so junio could learn on it- and the family heirloom turned out to be some awful Old Kraftsman (OK, OK, I like em too) or Teisco, let's say, with action a foot high that nobody can play. That won't be your story, jsut the opposite.

We'd love to see pictures of this beauty. How does it play?
