Anyhow, I can't say I know.
Unless it's not an Electra, which'd be a kinda dumb thing to say.
Maybe it's some sort of marketing ploy? I dunno....

Not sure if you are still inquiring about this "Made in the USA" stamp, but I played and checked out the guitar you are referring to at Mike's Music. This guitar was not made in the USA. It is an Electra Elvin Bishop model made in 1977. It is all original. I believe someone added the stamp back when USA made instruments were the only guitars selling.

At any rate, the brass nut does not insinuate a lesser build quality. John Scofield uses a 1981 AS200 with a half brass half bone nut. I have this exact guitar. I A/B'd it against the Elvin Bishop. I was expecting there to be slight differences but they are really two totally different guitars. The Elvin Bishop has a rosewood fingerboard and mohagony neck and the overall guitar is lighter than my AS200. The pickups sounds a bit more traditional 335'ish to me but in a very good way. I think the AS200 has the hotter pickups but the pickups in the EB model are wonderful in their own right and sound much more musical to my ears.

Everything about this guitar including the sound and playability topped it off for me. This is just an outstanding guitar for rock and jazz and the price is insanely cheap for a guitar of this quality. Therefore I bought it!!! I did not plan on this at all, but this is an amazing guitar.

Japanese copies...what can you say. They're just great instruments.
