I am trying to install Seymour Duncan pickups in a '78 Studio Zephyr for a customer (I work in a guitar shop), and I need to match the wires to the Super Magnafluxes. However, I can't seem to locate a color code or wiring diagram anywhere. I'm reluctant to go the trial and error route for fear of heating the posts too many times on the 5-way rotary switch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

You could try this site http://www.matsumoku.org/guitars.html. Super magnaflux were used on Aria and Vantage guitars as well. Do a search as I remember this being discussed.

If that does not work you can test each lead when you remove it from the guitar. Test each pair of leads. Only the ground and hot from each coil will give you proper resistance. If you have a test lead (a cable with 1/4" jack on one end and aligator clips on the other) you can find which working pair leads to which coil by attaching, plugginh in and tapping. Keep notes and let us know.
